26th April Marvel Comic Releases

It’s quite a big release week this week!

Single Issues:

Guardians Of The Galaxy: Bane Of Blastaar by Ralph Macchio

Blastaar is back and has launched a new inquisition to take over the galaxy! The Guardians must act fast if they hope to stop him! But it looks like this found family is having problems of their own. Can the Guardians get it together before it’s too late? Don’t miss out on this classic Guardians of the Galaxy tale!

I don’t think this is one for people new to Blastaar or the Guardians Of The Galaxy, to be honest, so if you haven’t heard of this villain before, maybe give this a miss for now!

Miracleman: Marvel Tales by Mick Anglo and The Original Writer

One of the most celebrated characters in comic book history takes center stage! In classic British tales from MIRACLEMAN (1985) #1, WARRIOR #1-11, MARVELMAN SPECIAL #1 and A1 (1989) #1 – restored and refreshed in the pages of MIRACLEMAN (2014) #1-4 – a long-forgotten legend lives again with the magic word KIMOTA!
Middle-aged reporter Michael Moran always knew he was meant for something more. When an unexpected series of events leads him to reclaim his destiny, the heroic Miracleman is reborn! But Miracleman’s return threatens to unravel Moran’s life! Pushing the concept of the super hero to its logical conclusion, MIRACLEMAN is nothing short of a revelation and forty years later stands as one of the influential works in the comic book artform. Now, relive the first groundbreaking 1980s adventures that captured lightning in a bottle – or experience them for the first time!

Just as it says in the synopsis, this is the original 1980s Miracleman run, so even if you have never heard of the character before, you won’t be missing anything with this release!

Sins Of Sinister: Dominion by Kieron Gillen

A thousand years of hell and damnation comes to end with the loudest scream in history and for the truly guilty, there is no escape. Can the future change the present, or will we just make all the same mistakes again? Either way, the present will have to live with the future’s sins.

The next part in the Sins Of Sinister run within the Krakoa era for the X-Men. I’ve got guides up for Dawn Of X (part two) and Reign Of X, Trials Of X is coming soon and I’ve also got a rundown on Krakoa itself coming soon too, so you won’t be lost when it comes to this run.

Rocket Raccoon: Marvel Tales by Bill Mantlo

The fiery furball known as Rocket Raccoon shows he has what it takes to one day be a Guardian of the Galaxy as we celebrate the legacy of the House of Ideas with MARVEL TALES! This anthology series shines a spotlight on fan-favorite characters, features timeless stories and highlights some of Marvel’s most impressive talent from the past eight decades! In ROCKET RACCOON (1985) #1-4, acclaimed writer Bill Mantlo teamed with superstar-in-waiting Mike Mignola to present Rocket’s first solo adventure as Guardian of the Keystone Quadrant! When Rocket’s girlfriend Lylla is kidnapped by the mercenary Blackjack O’Hare and held captive by Lord Dyvyne, one of the most powerful creatures on Halfworld, it’s up to the galaxy’s deadliest weapons expert to go in – guns blazing – and save the day!

A collection of classic Rocket Raccoon tales, and definitely something to read before seeing Guardians Of The Galaxy volume 3, as the film is focusing on Rocket’s backstory, and appears to feature Lylla too!

Bind Ups:

All-Out Avengers: Teachable Moments by Derek Landy

Strap in for an all-new, all-adrenaline adventure that starts in the middle and races to the finish! An alien attack – a city warped – and Captain Marvel looking to the Avengers with murderous intent! Then, the Avengers are in chains, and their only hope lies with their greatest hero: Doctor Doom?! An army of Red Skulls threatens to overwhelm them, a cadre of bloodthirsty killers will hunt them, and even Spider-Man is out to get them! But who’s behind this madness, altering the very fabric of reality over and over again? Something big is coming to the Marvel Universe! Take a deep breath before you open this book – because once you dive in, you won’t be allowed up for air! The Avengers assemble for all-out action!

Derek Landy‘s latest Marvel run, where you’re dropped into Avengers fights – so all you really need here is some knowledge of the Avengers and then you’re good!

Cosmic Ghost Rider by Donny Cates

Thanos’ newest enforcer is Marvel’s most outrageous breakout character! Millennia ago he was Frank Castle, the Punisher. A deal with the devil made him the Ghost Rider. An alliance with Galactus made him cosmic. And a bargain with Thanos made him… dead?! Don’t worry, Cosmic Ghost Rider has a time-travel plan for revenge – but can even Frank kill baby Thanos?! Plus: As cosmic war rages and a new hunt for Thanos begins, will Cosmic Ghost Rider answer the call and join the Guardians of the Galaxy?! Presenting all of Donny Cates’ flaming-hot tales of the far-out future Frank Castle!

Collecting the Cosmic Ghost Rider run – I’d recommend reading the 2016 Thanos by Jeff Lemire and Donny Cates (issues 13-18 are included in this volume) for some groundwork and having some knowledge of Ghost Rider, but otherwise, you should be fine reading this!

Deadpool And Cable Omnibus by Fabian Nicieza and Various

Wade Wilson is Deadpool, the Merc with a Mouth and a healing factor that just won’t quit! Nathan Summers is Cable, the mutant from the future who plans to save us all – whether we want him to or not! And now this disparate duo has just become Marvel’s oddest couple – because they’re stuck with one another! Can two grown men armed to the teeth with high-tech weaponry coexist without driving each other crazy?! It’s action, adventure, time travel, dimension-hopping, black humor, black ops, Bea Arthur, chimichangas – yes, that whole thing started here – and lots of gunfire as two of Marvel’s fan-favorite antiheroes take on each other and everyone else! Guest-starring the X-Men, Spider-Man, Captain America, the Fantastic Four and the Great Lakes Avengers!

I’d recommend knowledge of Deadpool and Cable, but otherwise, just go in and have some fun with this run!

Midnight Suns by Ethan Sacks

Rise of the Midnight Suns! A dark prophecy and apocalyptic new villains with horrifying powers the likes of which Earth has never faced before, ordains a specialist team to form and tear @#$% up! Standing in the way of the coming storm are Magik, Wolverine, Blade, Spirit Rider and Nico Minoru! But what does the terrible threat they face have to do with the Sorcerer Supreme’s past? And why is Strange Academy student Zoe Laveau number one on their list? Now, the Suns must undertake the darkest and most horrifying journey imaginable to secure aid from one of the most ancient and dangerous beings in all of existence. But what terrible secret is the sorceress Agatha Harkness hiding? It’s time for the dark side of the Marvel Universe to shine! Featuring Clea, Wong, Doctor Doom and more!

As always, I recommend having knowledge of the characters mentioned (I have stuff on the Sorcerer Supreme, Clea, Magik and a bit on Wolverine) as well as reading Strange Academy by Skottie Young first but again, dive in and have fun!

Strange volume 2: The Doctor Strange Of Death by Jed MacKay

What will be Clea’s next move? Someone has stolen pieces of Wong’s memory, and he’s going to need them back to stop the Blasphemy Cartel. It’s up to Wong and Bats to retrace their steps and uncover the truth about what’s been taken from him – but could some memories be better off forgotten? As Clea and Wong at last uncover who is behind the zombie resurrections of deceased heroes and villains, they’re going to need all the help they can get, including from the Sorcerer Supreme of Death: the Harvestman! Plus: The secrets of the Blasphemy Cartel are revealed by the unlikeliest of sources! The Cartel unleashes its deadliest weapon, but what is it? Or?who?! As one chapter closes, a new one is about to begin in the house of Strange!

The first volume is called I Belong To Death, and you definitely need to read it, and The Death Of Doctor Strange first.

Thor Epic Collection: Even An Immortal Can Die by Len Wein and Various

Writer Len Wein is joined by all-time great THOR artist Walter Simonson, and there’s no question that what’s in store will be legendary! Odin has disappeared, and Asgard needs its All-Father, so Thor ventures across the vastness of space to find him. But his quest will bring him into conflict with the Enchantress, the Executioner, the Destroyer and, of course, Loki! Then, Roy Thomas and John Buscema take up the hammer! Tapping deep into Thor’s mythic roots, the duo crafts amazing adventures featuring the death of Balder, the Midgard Serpent and a new Norse Thor! Also featuring rare Thor and Hercules stories from MARVEL PREVIEW, a team-up with the Guardians of the Galaxy against Korvac, and the beginning of the epic Eternals saga!

The ninth volume in the Thor Epic Collection – the previous volumes are called: The God Of Thunder, When Titans Clash, The Wrath of Odin, To Wake The Mangog, The Fall Of Asgard, Into The Dark Nebula, Ulik Unchained and War Of The Gods.

X-Terminators by Leah Williams

Enter the Grindhouse of X! When Jubilee and Boom-Boom agree to take Dazzler out for a night on the town to console her after her nasty breakup, they have no idea they’re about to be kidnapped and put into elaborate death traps for their efforts! What are three young women with the power to blow things up to do? Find a fourth who is not afraid of a little blood, sweat and carnage! Laura Kinney, the Wolverine, completes the quartet of deadly X-Women fighting for their lives – and more important, fighting for vengeance on the @#$%^&*!! dead man who did this to them! But just when you thought the night couldn’t get any more bonkers, would you believe: vampires?! Time to make these bloodsuckers regret they ever crossed paths with the X-Terminators!

The next bind up in the Krakoa era, focusing on the X-Terminators!

And that’s everything coming out this week! What is going on your pull list? I’m looking at All Out Avengers, Strange and Midnight Suns! Tell me yours down below!
