It’s a very small release week this week, with only four bind ups and no new single issue runs starting!
Created by the utopian scientists of the Enclave and hatched from the imaginations of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, there came a being known only as…Him! And when this perfect being encountered the High Evolutionary, he gained a purpose, a Soul Gem and a name: Adam Warlock! His adventures will rock your world – and Counter-Earth too! Now, Warlock’s complete original 1970s saga is collected in one volume. Featuring the first life (and death) of Adam Warlock, the debut of the Infinity Gems, the Magus saga, the all-time classic war against Thanos, the debut of Her, the resurrection of Adam Warlock and a massive treasure trove of bonus material!
This is an Omnibus you’ll want to read before Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3 comes out and Adam Warlock makes his debut! I’ll have a full guide up for Adam next month, but this is a good place to start!
Stan Lee called it “the World’s Greatest Comic Magazine,” and he wasn’t kidding. If Lee and Jack Kirby set the comics world on fire in 1961 with the debut of the Fantastic Four, in 1965 they burned it down. Letting loose an unmatched burst of rapid-fire creativity, they gave birth to the Frightful Four, the Inhumans, Galactus and the Silver Surfer – and even pulled off the first super hero wedding! The FF faces monster menaces galore, including Dragon Man – and out-of-this-world villains, from the shape-shifting Skrulls to the undersea warlord Attuma. But it’s not just the panel-bursting action that makes FANTASTIC FOUR great. It’s the drama of a family, united to explore all the wonders of the Marvel Universe side by side!
The third volume in the Fantastic Four Epic Collection, the first two are called The World’s Greatest Comic Magazine and The Master Plan Of Doctor Doom.
They’re the rag-tag band of adventurers tasked with protecting the entire Marvel-Verse. They’re the Guardians of the Galaxy, and they put the far-out into outer space! When Earth faces a cosmic threat so great that even its mightiest heroes can’t handle it alone, the Avengers assemble alongside the Guardians – but can these two very different teams work together to save the day? Then, when Death’s Head, one of the galaxy’s greatest bounty hunters, targets the Guardians, it’s lights out for Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot! Plus: They’re used to being the galaxy’s most wanted, but why is Groot trying to arrest his best bud Rocket?! And for Star-Lord, it’s all about the music!
Collecting some great issues of Guardians Of The Galaxy, again, I’ll have some recommendations up next month, but this is a good thing to read while you wait!
The stirring story of Star-Lord! Before Peter Quill was a Guardian of the Galaxy, he was…an astronaut! Or at least he wanted to be. But as NASA’s biggest burnout, Quill seemed destined to stay grounded on Earth. Now, discover how he finally journeyed out into the galaxy! But getting off-world is one thing – surviving is another. Especially when Yondu and his space pirates find him! Plus: Relive Star-Lord’s pre-Guardians adventures: teaming with Thanos of Titan against a cosmic threat lurking in a galactic prison – and meeting Rocket Raccoon, Groot and Mantis on a high-stakes mission against the techno-organic Phalanx! But what deadly secrets lurk in Quill’s past on Earth, and what will they mean for his future in space?
Another good starting point for Star Lord comics – this doesn’t cover Peter’s earliest appearances with the Guardians, but it does give a few pre-Guardians stories to jump into! Again, a full Star Lord guide will be up next month, in time for the new film to come out!
And that’s everything coming out this week, what’s going on your pull list? I’m looking at the Star Lord collection myself!
