Marvel are finishing March with a bang by giving us a load of brand-new comics to read, so let’s dive into exactly what’s coming out!

Single Issues:

Someone has been manipulating the Avengers for the past several months, altering the very fabric of reality in an attempt to prepare the planet for a threat that could destroy everything. Here, now, this unseen individual is to be dragged, kicking and screaming, from the shadows and into the light – and is revealed as the Beyonder! Something big is coming to the Marvel Universe…

I’d say that you will need to have read All Out Avengers by Derek Landy, and have an idea of who the Beyonder is, and maybe have a basic understanding of Secret Wars to read this. You could try it without reading Secret Wars, but I’d certainly recommend reading All Out Avengers and knowing about the Beyonder at the very least.

It’s Clobberin’ Time all the time, as Ben Grimm teams up with heroes from across the Marvel Universe for BIG, FIST-POUNDING ACTION! But the stakes have never been higher! In this opening issue, Ben and the Incredible Hulk are stranded on a distant, ancient, alien world, where the duo must protect an ancient people against legions of Deviant hordes and ultimately face the wrath of a Celestial. Luckily, they have four fists between them!

The first part in a solo miniseries where The Thing teams up with various Marvel characters – so I’d recommend having knowledge on The Thing, and for this specific issue The Hulk.

JEFF THE LANDSHARK STARS IN HIS OWN FIN-TASTIC COMIC! Since his very first appearance, Jeff the Land Shark has flooded our hearts like an adorable tidal wave! Collecting the hit Infinity Comics series from the Marvel Unlimited app, this one-shot features a brand-new cover and tail…we mean tale!

If you have the Marvel Unlimited app, then this won’t be new to you, if you don’t have it, then you’ll LOVE this comic. It doesn’t require any real knowledge of the Marvel Universe apart from the basics, and it’s perfect for all ages!

BROCK VS. DOOM. ‘NUFF SAID! Venom co-creator DAVID MICHELINIE returns with a brand-new story set in the sinister symbiote’s past when brains – and Spider-Man – were still on the menu! This time, he’s uniting with rising star FARID KARAMI to weave an epic, blockbuster story that will take Venom from the streets of NYC to the kingdom of Latveria as EDDIE BROCK is challenged like never before! You will want to have read Venom: Lethal Protector first, as this is the follow up run to that series.

MUTANTS… OR MONSTERS? Beaten, broken and bruised after the destruction of SPIDER-MAN: UNFORGIVEN, the FORGIVEN desperately need a break but, of course, there ain’t no rest for the wicked. Body parts have mysteriously started washing up on the coast of Maine and these extraneous organs call for help from the extraordinary X-MEN! But with former bloodsucker JUBILEE in tow, the team is risking more than they know?

You’ll want to be caught up on all things X-Men (Dawn Of X part one and part two, Reign Of X, and Trials Of X coming soon) and have read Spider-Man: Unforgiven first.

I’d recommend having basic Moon Knight knowledge first, but otherwise you can just pick this up with no problem.

Richard Rider is Nova, the original 1970s Human Rocket! Struck by energy sent by a dying alien, Rich has inherited the mantle of an intergalactic Nova Centurion! The newly minted hero must somehow balance schoolwork, a social life and a constant string of villains – including Condor, Powerhouse, Diamondhead, Blackout and the dreaded Sphinx, who seeks a secret that Nova doesn’t even know he’s carrying! Plus: Nova and Spider-Man unravel a murder mystery, Rich’s father is ensnared in an underworld scheme and Nova joins…the dynamic Defenders? And when the Nova Corps’ homeworld, Xandar, comes under attack, Rich and his new allies leave Earth behind to join the cosmic fray – while the Fantastic Four tackle the Sphinx!

Collecting some of the earliest Nova Richard Rider comics, so if you want to start reading his comics, this is the place to start!

You’ll want to know about the characters mentioned (I have guides up for Hawkeye, Monica Rambeau and America Chavez) and to have read Devil’s Reign before this run.

Heads will roll in the Trials of X! It’s Halloween, and the X-Men have to face a horror born of a neighboring town in Westchester: the Headless Horseman?! And that’s not the only terror targeting them! On Krakoa, where the dead walk among the living and the unforgiveable has been forgiven, the New Mutants must battle an old foe: the psychic entity known as the Shadow King! Meanwhile, Maverick returns for a team-up with Wolverine! But when C.I.A. agent Jeff Bannister uncovers a secret surveillance device aimed at Krakoa, Logan faces a life-or-death protection mission on the run – with nowhere safe to hide!

WOLVERINE: WEAPON X is the character-defining origin of the man known only as Logan. Written and illustrated by auteur creator and master storyteller Barry Windsor-Smith, it is undeniably one of the greatest Wolverine stories ever told. After being taken hostage by an experimental Canadian military-science outfit, Logan is transformed into Weapon X, an unstoppable killing machine with an indestructible adamantium skeleton and razor-sharp claws. But Weapon X cannot be contained by his captors – and trapped in their lab with the monster they have made, they will face his feral wrath! It’s a psychedelic horror story in the mold of Frankenstein, restored from original art and print sources for this stunning deluxe edition! 

If you’re as excited as I am about Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine, or just want to read some more Wolverine, then this is a great run, as it covers Logan’s origins! It’s not his earliest appearance, but it should still work as a pretty good jumping off point for the character.
