Today I want to highlight a Marvel writer I’ve mentioned multiple times, but never given the full spotlight to – Vita Ayala.
Vita, who is trans and non-binary and goes by they/them pronouns, is a more recent writer to enter the Marvel writer’s room, but has been taking it by storm from the minute they arrived, so here’s a guide to everything they’ve ever written for Marvel!
The Single Issues:

Vita Ayala and Greg Land put Wolverine on a mission to stop a “cure” for the X-gene where he’ll cross paths with his deadliest foe: SABRETOOTH!

Vita did a two-issue long guest spot in this run, which was usually headed up by Nnedi Okorafor.

The second volume in a kid-friendly Black Panther comic series – the first volume is by Kyle Baker.

On the edge of Krakoan society, the New Mutants let loose in the Wild Hunt! Going big, blowing things up, and combining powers to see who can be crowned king of the mountain. But something lurks in the trees. Something old…and hungry. And its favorite prey is young mutants! As Karma and Dani delve deeper into their nightmares, a spider sets his eyes on the most vulnerable among the team. And as the Wild Hunt goes on, someone vanishes without a trace, plans long in motion begin to unfurl — and children who play at being adults must now prepare for the fight of their lives.
Vita headed up the New Mutants line in the recent Krakoa era of the X-Men – their storyline starts after the X Of Swords event, and they were joined by Danny Lore and Charlie Jane Anders for the fourth volume.

When did the X-Men get sidekicks?! Now! Don’t miss the debut of the greatest teenage super hero team of all time! They’ve learned from the best – now they’re ready to be put to the test! Written by Vita Ayala and Danny Lore with art by David Messina, the Arno Stark–funded crackdown on artificial intelligence is in full swing. That means that Riri Williams and N.A.T.A.L.I.E., the A.I. based on Riri’s deceased best friend, are in for a world of trouble. In a leap of faith and desperation, Morbius takes matters into his own hands — but the results are monstrous, and now his lust for blood threatens to overwhelm him like never before! Old-school Marvel villain the Melter has resurfaced at just the wrong time — and he just might become the first in a long line of victims in the reinvigorated vampire’s bloody path! Michael Morbius only wanted his soul back, but how much will it cost?
This volume is actually a pretty good place to start reading Morbius comics, if the film intrigued you about the character.

The Danger Room holds the worst of the worst in the Age of X-Man! When you break the law in paradise, you aren’t sent to just any prison. You’re sent to the Danger Room…a penitentiary filled with the roughest and meanest mutants who don’t fit into X-Man’s utopia. They each have a reason for being there, and they’re all primed and ready to kill each other. But that’s about to change, because the Danger Room’s newest prisoner has just arrived…Lucas Bishop! As Bishop navigates between the various mutant gangs to find the truth beyond the walls of the prison, can he trust the other inmates – including Magneto’s daughter, Polaris? Or will Bishop have to break out solo?
A tie-in to the Age Of X-Men event.

The safe choice? Walk away. But when has Jessica Jones ever played it safe?
Jessica Jones has made an art of ignoring her particular brand of super-powered trauma. But these days, she’s giving the whole “self-care” thing a try. Seeing a therapist, finding healthier coping mechanisms (read: no business-hours drinking), working toward not wanting to punch things all the time. Maybe even taking the occasional case that won’t eat her alive. A simple missing persons case seems like just the ticket. But when a boy’s body turns up under an overpass in what looks like a cut-and-dried OD, Jessica can’t let it go and dives headlong into an obsessive search for answers.
This is actually an audiobook instead of a comic, but because Vita contributed to the writing of it, I wanted to add it in here.
And that’s everything Vita Ayala has written for Marvel! What are you going to check out first – I personally recommend the X-Men run!
