Okay, if you’re still here, then you’ve seen the movie and you want to know more about the Quantum Realm in the original Marvel Comics, so let’s get into it!
What Is The Quantum Realm?
The Quantum Realm, or the Microverse, as it is known in Marvel Comics, is a dimension that can only be found by shrinking down to sub-atomic levels. It’s not quite a new universe, more like a parallel dimension, made up of multiple sub-atomic planets, each one filled with alien-type species.
Who Named It The Quantum Realm?
Hank Pym named it The Quantum Realm in the MCU (Marvel weren’t allowed to call it the Microverse for various reasons, so they changed it to the Quantum Realm). The Microverse itself was named by a time traveller called Prince Wayfinder, who needed somewhere safe for his displaced people to live.
Who Lives In The Quantum Realm?
The descendants of Prince Wayfinder and his people to start with, the Symbiotes also tried to take over for a while but were thrown out. And for a short time, the Silver Surfer. There are also others living down there, but I’d be here all day if I listed them all!
Can Anyone Get Into The Quantum Realm?
As long as they have the ability to shrink down that small, then yes!

How Is The Quantum Realm Different In Marvel Comics, Compared To The MCU?
Aside from the name, there aren’t that many differences as far as I can tell – with the exception that a Kang variant has been hiding down there for years, and Janet Van Dyne has never been trapped there in the comics. Also, our heroes don’t generally use the Quantum Realm/Microverse to travel through time in the comics.
Mainly though, the idea stays the same – that it’s a sub-atomic realm, made up of multiple planets/dimensions, each with their own unique people!
What Stories Have The Quantum Realm/Microverse As A Setting?
Not that many, to be fair. Your best bet is to read the Micronauts (1979-1986) comics, as the team is set within the Microverse, and so focus on the history of the place and its inhabitants.
And that’s all I can really give you in terms of Quantum Realm/Microverse knowledge, as there isn’t really much else to say!
Either way, I hope it helped you at least a bit, and if you have any questions about this place, or anything else to do with Ant Man, let me know in the comments below!
