26th October Marvel Comic Releases

There are not very many new single issues this week, but a few new bind ups are coming this week!

Single Issues:

Moon Knight Annual by Jed MacKay

WEREWOLF BY MOON KNIGHT! In the Darkhold, there is a prophecy of how a god might die. Jack Russell, more familiar with that cursed tome than most, would like very much to kill a god and save his people, the people bound in servitude to the moon. But to fulfill that prophecy requires the blood of the Fist of Khonshu, and Moon Knight doesn’t bleed easily.

A new rematch between Werewolf By Night and Moon Knight! So make sure you’re familiar with both characters and the Darkhold before reading this!

Strange Academy Finals by Skottie Young

FRESHMAN YEAR IS ALMOST OVER! From day one, people have been wondering – who is the saviour of Strange Academy, and who can bring it all down? The future of Marvel Magic is going to be decided here and it will take FAR more than the Sorcerer Supreme and his school if magic has a chance!

Make sure you’ve read the first three Strange Academy (First Class, Bright Side and Wish Craft) and Death Of Doctor Strange and Strange by Jed MacKay first.

Bind Ups:

Deadpool Epic Collection: Mission Improbable by Larry Hama and various

Wade Wilson: hero?! Deadpool finds his voice in a character-defining and hilarious run! The mysterious corporation Landau, Luckman & Lake believes Deadpool is their Chosen One – but does the Merc with a Mouth have it in him to be a hero? Wade’s old pal Weasel and housemate-slash-prisoner Blind Al have their doubts, and fellow merc T-Ray is out to see Wade fail at all costs! Maybe the unstable Typhoid Mary can help him refocus? Naaah! Plus: When Deadpool’s healing factor goes on the fritz, can he and X-Force’s Siryn deal with the devil who helped create him? And peer into the past of the man called Wade Wilson! Guest-starring Wolverine, Daredevil, Taskmaster and the Hulk!

Previous volume is called The Circle Chase!

Fantastic Four by John Byrne Omnibus volume 1

It’s the world’s greatest comic magazine – again! Not since the days of Lee and Kirby had a creator so perfectly captured the intense mood, cosmic style and classic adventure of Marvel’s First Family – as legendary writer/artist John Byrne launched Reed, Sue, Ben and Johnny into fantastic realms of imagination and wonder! From the corners of the globe to the vastness of space to the depths of the Negative Zone, the FF face foes old and new, including Dr. Doom, Galactus and Annihilus! Plus: The FF aid the Inhumans, bid farewell to the Baxter Building and celebrate their 20th Anniversary in style, as Byrne reminds us that there’s a family at the heart of this team!

I’d make sure to have some knowledge of the Fantastic Four, but otherwise, you should be fine to jump into this.

Ghost Rider volume 1: Unchained by Benjamin Percy

Ghost Rider goes back to flaming-skulled basics! Johnny Blaze is in a haze. He has the perfect life: idyllic small town, wife and kids, dog – the American dream. Except for the nightmares. Blaze is having terrifying visions and has a constant, pounding headache – like something inside is trying to get out. This world he’s living in is too good to be true. In fact, it’s more like a prison. But who would purposely be keeping the Spirit of Vengeance on the sidelines – and how? Meanwhile, the FBI has recently discovered a frightening and unexplained surge in supernatural activity. And that can mean only one thing: It’s time for Blaze to hit the dark roads of the Marvel Universe once more, confronting its monsters and battling his demons. Let’s ride!

I’d recommend that you have prior knowledge of Ghost Rider – specifically, I’d read Ed Brisson’s Ghost Rider from 2019 – volumes 1 and 2 are named The King Of Hell and Heart Of Darkness II.

Hellions by Zeb Wells

Bad is the new good! When Krakoa opened its doors to all mutants, its leaders knew they’d have to accept some of their worst foes into the fold – but they didn’t plan for what to do with them. Not to worry – Mister Sinister has ideas! Meet his new Hellions: Wild Child, Empath, Greycrow, Nanny, OrphanPsylocke…and Havok! But can they handle the return of Madelyne Pryor, the diabolical Goblin Queen?! Plus: The emergence of an old enemy and his fearsome warriors makes the Hellions’ new lives a hell on Earth! Arcade puts them to the test in his new Murderworld! Psylocke takes on Betsy Braddock! Tarn the Uncaring seeks revenge! And secrets, betrayals, alliances and loss all come boiling to the surface! The Hellions are the mutant team you’re going to hate to love!

If you’re collecting the latest X-Men run in individual teams, then you’ll need this, if you’re collecting Dawn Of X/Reign of X, then you’ll already have these issues.

Marvel Voices: Heritage by Jeffery Veregge and various

Today’s hottest Native American and Indigenous talent make their mark with stories that explore the rich heritage of Marvel’s incredible cast of Indigenous characters! Alien invaders discover that Echo hits back! Dani Moonstar undertakes a personal mutant rescue mission – but expect the unexpected when she fights alongside Forge, Warpath and more of Krakoa’s finest Native heroes! Discover the greatest hopes and fears of the Champions’ Snowguard! And find out why it ain’t easy being a super hero along with American Eagle! Plus: Tales featuring the new Werewolf by Night, the Captain America of the Kickapoo Tribe, the mysterious River and more!

All the Native American and Indigenous Marvel Voices issues collected in one space – it will rely on a little bit of prior knowledge of the characters mentioned, but it shouldn’t tie into any major events.

Marvel Masterworks: Incredible Hulk volume 16 by Bill Mantlo and various

The Masterworks rampage into the incredible Bill Mantlo era of Hulk! Mantlo’s five-year run redefined comics’ meanest, greenest goliath – and it all kicks off when the Hulk unleashes his rage on Gamma Base! By the time the dust settles, Hulk will find himself exiled to Jarella’s world, where he crosses paths with the cosmic Gardener, wielder of an Infinity Gem! Then it’s back to Earth for a chilling fight against Jack Frost in a tale drawn by the legendary Steve Ditko. A double-sized 250th issue features a team-up and tussle with the Silver Surfer, after which Hulk faces a “Trial by Monster” when he finds himself in the middle of a civil war between monster men! The indelible art of Sal Buscema makes page after page a Marvel Masterwork!

Previous volumes are simply numbered 1-15.

Strange Academy: First Class by Skottie Young

The sensational spellbinding series from Skottie Young and Humberto Ramos is given the hardcover treatment – printed in both colour and black and white! Doctor Strange has opened the doors of the Marvel Universe’s first school for sorcerers – and young people from all walks of life with an aptitude for magic are brought together in New Orleans to study under the tutelage of Strange, Brother Voodoo, the Ancient One, the Scarlet Witch, Magik, Daimon Hellstrom and all your favorite Marvel mages! From mindful Mindless Ones to pan-dimensional games of tag, the Strange Academy sure lives up to its name. But the students’ first field trip will light a fuse that’s going to blow up in a big way!

The hardcover version of the first Strange Academy volume, so if you already have this in single issues/paperback, you don’t need to buy the hardcover unless you want to!

The Marvels volume 2: Undiscovered Country by Kurt Busiek

Master storyteller Kurt Busiek continues to tie together the length and breadth of the Marvel Universe! Lady Lotus has erected an impenetrable dome over the Asian nation of Siancong – but what is her goal, and how does it tie into events from decades ago? The Avengers and Fantastic Four have assembled an assault team, but will the vital final member be in place by the time the strike begins? Meanwhile, learn what the citizens of Siancong (and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Melinda May) have been through under the dome! The strike team will confront giant monsters, Golden Age mysteries and strange happenings – but when the final truths are revealed and the unimaginably deadly scale of the threat in Siancong becomes apparent, the Marvels must find a way to save a world, a universe…and themselves!

The first volume is called The War In Siancong.

And that’s everything coming out this week! What’s going on your pull list? I’m looking at the latest Strange Academy and Marvel Voices!
