23rd March Marvel Comic Releases

A little short on the single issues this week, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some brilliant new releases coming this new comic book day!

Single Issues:

Wolverine: Patch by Larry Hama

ALL-NEW action, intrigue and espionage awaits you as legendary creator Larry Hama returns with a story set before his original run on WOLVERINE! The mutant known as LOGAN has made a name for himself on the mysterious island of MADRIPOOR, where the locals know him as PATCH. From their haunt at the PRINCESS BAR, what starts as a simple recon mission lands PATCH and ARCHIE knee-deep in a paramilitary struggle that will surface some SURPRISE REVELATIONS and characters! And is that NICK FURY, DIRECTOR OF S.H.I.E.L.D.? Yes, two patches for the price of one! A must-have for long-standing readers, and a welcome entry point for new readers of WOLVERINE!

As the synopsis says, this is a great starting point for anyone who wants to get into Wolverine’s comic counterpart! My only recommendation would be to know a bit about Madripoor before going into this!

Bind Ups:

With the mutant race reduced to extinction levels, how do the X-Men pick up the pieces? A Sentinel arrival and a sneak attack force the weakened X-Men to re-evaluate who their friends are – and to align themselves with former enemies. As Apocalypse rises again to lead mutantkind into the future, only the strongest will survive! But just wait until you see En Sabah Nur’s new Horsemen! Will the blood of Apocalypse contain salvation – or damnation?

The previous volume is called Dangerous Liaison, and you’ll definitely need to have read that before reading this.

Carnage Epic Collection: Born In Blood by David Michelinie and more

Volume #1 in the Carnage Epic Collections
Carnage slashes his way into his own Epic Collection! When the offspring of Eddie Brock’s alien symbiote bonds with Brock’s psychopathic former cellmate, Cletus Kasady, the result is the most deranged and bloodthirsty foe Spider-Man has ever faced! Against the remorseless killer that is Carnage, Spidey must do the unthinkable and forge an alliance with Venom! But Carnage soon gathers some fiendish friends of his own: Carrion, Demogoblin, Shriek and the evil six-armed Spider-Man Doppelganger! And now a small army of heroes – including Spidey, Captain America, Iron Fist, Black Cat, Cloak and Dagger, Morbius and Venom – must hit the streets in a desperate bid to stop Maximum Carnage

I’d made sure that you know the origins of Carnage before going into this, but you should be fine otherwise.

Daredevil by Chip Zdarsky: To Heaven Through Hell Volume 2

Daredevil goes through hell! As Matt Murdock struggles with his inner demons, Detective Cole North continues hunting the vigilantes of New York. And his first target is…Spider-Man! When the ongoing saga of Mayor Wilson Fisk takes a brutal, bloody turn, Matt soon finds himself with no choice but to investigate the corruption in New York’s police force. But without Daredevil around to stand in his way, the Owl turns his horrifying sights on Hell’s Kitchen – and he is not alone! A war is brewing, and as Matt rekindles his alliance – and possibly more – with Elektra, he faces difficult choices. The streets of New York burn, a gang of lethal super villains runs riot and the Kitchen is left hanging by a thread. That thread…is Daredevil!

The first volume has the same title as this one.

And that’s everything coming out this week! What’s on your pull list? I’m definitely looking into Blood Of Apocalypse!
