2nd March Marvel Comic Releases

A new week means another new comic book day!

Single Issues:

Devil’s Reign: Spider-Man by Anthony Piper

• The events of DEVIL’S REIGN #1-2 have put Spidey in an awful position.
•  As if that weren’t enough, the newly returned ROSE has Spidey in his crosshairs and wants to prove that he’s badder than his dad, Kingin, ever was.

I’d recommend reading Devil’s Reign issues 1 and 2 at the very least before reading this, but if you can, try to get all Devil’s Reign tie in issues. I’ll have a guide up when the bind ups for this event start coming out.

Strange by Jed MacKay

A NEW SORCERER SUPREME RISES! Doctor Strange is dead! And a new Sorcerer Supreme has taken the title, or should we say Sorceress? Haunted by her recently returned memories, Clea longs to bring Stephen Strange back from the dead! But when a mysterious group attacks the magical realm, Clea must rise to the duties of Sorcerer Supreme. For she is now the sole protector of Earth against magical threats.

You have to have read Death Of Doctor Strange before this, as it leads directly on from the events of that run. Again, I’ll have a guide up when the bind ups start releasing.

What If Miles Morales by Cody Ziglar

What if…Miles Morales had never been bitten by a genetically enhanced spider and became Spider-Man? What if instead…the U.S. government recruited, trained, and granted him incredible powers with the Super-Soldier Serum? What makes Miles a hero no matter the circumstances, no matter the reality?!

No pre-reading is needed for this, further than having basic knowledge on Miles Morales and Captain America, as the idea is the same as the other What If stories – what if just one thing changed in the Marvel Universe?

Bind Ups:

X-Men by Gerry Duggan Volume 1

The heroes of Krakoa are here to save the planet! Things might be complicated between the new mutant nation and the rest of the world, but it’s simple to the X-Men: You do what’s right, you protect those who need protecting and you save the world we all share. Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Sunfire, Rogue, Wolverine, Synch and Polaris are the chosen champions of mutantkind, and they will not shrink from any battle. But as threats emerge from all sides, these fearless X-Men fight an unstoppable wave of annihilation – and dangers lurk in the darkness! From the obsessed High Evolutionary to the bizarre Cordyceps Jones,
from Orchis’ Dr. Stasis to the horrifying Headless Horseman, the X-Men battle on! But who is Captain Krakoa?

The first team bind up in the Reign Of X era for the X-Men! I’d recommend checking out the reading orders I’ve posted of Dawn Of X parts one and two, just to make sure you’re collecting the right bind ups for you.

Thor Epic Collection: Wrath Of Odin by Stan Lee

A masterpiece of immortal action and boundless drama, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s THOR is a cornerstone of the Marvel Universe. And in this Epic Collection, Thor’s saga explodes onto the cosmic stage with the debut of Ego, the Living Planet! The action continues nonstop with the High Evolutionary, Ulik the Troll and the unstoppable Destroyer! Then, Loki conspires to have Odin strip Thor of his power and banish him to Earth. Stranded, Thor must struggle to survive the machinations of his scheming adopted brother, all while attempting to return to All-Father Odin’s good graces! Plus: The return of Lady Sif – and battles against the Growing Man, Replicus, the Super-Skrull and your favorite enchanted-crowbar-wielding galoot, the Wrecker!

The previous parts of this Epic Collection are called: The God Of Thunder and When Titans Clash.

Mighty Marvel Masterworks Daredevil: While The City Sleeps by Stan Lee and Wally Wood

The stories that built the Marvel Universe, from the brilliant minds of legendary creators – now available in an accessible new format the whole family can enjoy! When young Matt Murdock saved a man from being hit by a truck, he was blinded by a radioactive chemical. But the radiation enhanced his other four senses to superhuman levels – granting him an awareness of the world like no other! Now, after years of training, the fledgling attorney is ready to fight crime as Daredevil! In these formative stories, experience DD’s earliest battles against Electro, the Owl, Stilt-Man, the Purple Man, Namor the Sub-Mariner and more; meet Matt’s one true love, Karen Page; and get to know his law partner – and best friend – Foggy Nelson! Here comes Daredevil: The Man Without Fear!

If your kids were wondering just who Peter Parker‘s ‘really good lawyer’ was in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and you don’t want to show them the Netflix Daredevil show, then this is a fantastic thing to give them! This will give them, and you, Matt’s origin story in an accessible, child-friendly way.

Excalibur by Tini Howard Volume 4

The tower and the storm! Captain Britain and Excalibur have reunited at last, and Otherworld is their new domain. But a new mission is about to reveal deep political unrest among Saturnyne’s court, and a brutal sacrifice will bear bitter fruit! As guardians of the gate, the members of Excalibur have sworn to safely escort those who quest to the realm beyond. But when Doom returns to Avalon, they will soon find those duties tested to their very limits. And the ten kingdoms of Otherworld must decide: Are the members of Excalibur heroes to be celebrated, or witchbreed to be put to the stake? The one true king returns and fantasy gives way to crushing reality as Tini Howard’s mystical mutant saga continues!

Again, refer back to the Dawn Of X/Reign Of X reading guides above for full information as to where this fits in with the rest of the X-Men story.

Darkhold by Steve Orlando

Enter the pages of the Darkhold! For hundreds of years, scholars, heroes and villains alike have searched for the complete text of this terrible tome: the Book of the Damned, penned by the elder god Chthon. Now, at long last, one of the greatest sorcerers in the Multiverse has found the Darkhold – and Chthon has found him. To save all of existence, the Scarlet Witch must gather the world’s greatest heroes…and unleash their inner darkness. Because the only way to stand up to the forces unleashed by the Darkhold is to go insane! Witness the Marvel Universe’s descent into madness!

If you’re wondering about the Darkhold after WandaVision, and what it could mean for Multiverse Of Madness, then a good thing to read would be this – a story entirely based around the book!

Avengers Epic Collection: The Crossing Line by Fabian Nicieza and more

International action! To prevent a nuclear nightmare, the Avengers must take on the Russian People’s Protectorate, Canada’s Alpha Flight and the undersea might of Atlantis! But back home, what is happening to Jarvis and the Avengers’ support staff? Then, Avengers East and West Coast team up when the towering Terminus strikes! And a new hero called Rage makes a major impression on the team…but will they see eye-to-eye in time to defeat the bizarre Tetrarchs of Entropy? Then, as the Avengers sign a new charter with the United Nations and the old order changeth once again, who will join Earth’s Mightiest? Rage? Spider-Man? Or…the Sandman?! And what happens when Doctor Doom targets Avengers Mansion?

There’s a fair few volumes before this one, their names are: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Once An Avengers, Masters Of Evil, Behold… The Vision, This Beachhead Earth, A Traitor Stalks Within Us, The Avengers/Defenders War, Kang War, The Final Threat, Under Seige, Judgement Day and Heavy Metal. There are a few Epic Collections in between these volumes that haven’t been released yet, so don’t be too worried if you’ve read all these and you feel like you’ve missed something! Hopefully, these missing volumes will be released soon.

And that’s everything being released today! What’s on your pull list? I’m definitely putting Darkhold and What If on mine!
