2nd February Marvel Comic Releases

There’s a lot of exciting new releases coming this new comic book day, so let’s get into it!

Single Issues

Fantastic Four: Reckoning War Alpha by Dan Slott

FIFTEEN YEARS IN THE MAKING – AND IT ALL KICKS OFF HERE!
In a time before the Kree, Skrull or Shi’ar Empires. Before the emergence of Galactus. Before the birth of Asgard.
There was the First War. The greatest war to ever rage across the Multiverse.
Today, it is reignited. This is the Day of Reckoning.
And all that stands between all of reality and revenge from the dawn of time are the heroes of Earth, the Fantastic Four and the mind of Mister Fantastic.
Starring the FF, She-Hulk, Jack of Hearts, the Unseen, the Silver Surfer and everyone in the whole damn Marvel Universe.

As the synopsis says, this is 15 years in the making, so definitely not one you can just jump into! I’ll get started on making a guide to go up in February for you all!

Sabretooth by Victor Lavalle

DOWN IN A HOLE!
Sabretooth went into the Pit, sentenced to an eternity of torment. Sure, that sounds like hell, but maybe that’s where he feels most at home. What’s he been doing down there? What secret deal has changed his fate forever? And what if he’s not alone? Award-winning novelist Victor LaValle teams up with amazing artist Leonard Kirk to bring us the story of what lies beneath Krakoa…

You will need to have read at least Dawn Of X before reading this.

Savage Spider-Man by Joe Kelly

SPIDER-MAN LIKE YOU’VE NEVER SEEN HIM BEFORE!
Peter Parker finds himself at the middle of the biggest, most wide-ranging adventure he’s ever had and out of the gate it has turned him into a SAVAGE BEAST! Forget everything you know about Spider-Man. All rules and regulations are out the door and Peter Parker may never be the same!

You’ll need to read Non-Stop Spider-Man first, as this follows directly on from that series.

X-Cellent by Peter Milligan

IT’S FINALLY HERE!
They were loved by their adoring fans. They were reviled by the harsh press. They lived, they loved, they fought and they died…a lot – all for the sake of fame. They were the X-Statix, a team of mutant celebrities fighting for a brighter world and an even brighter spotlight! But they’re old news now, because there’s a new mutant team that will live harder, love harder, fight harder and die a whole lot harder than those has-beens! Peter Milligan, Michael Allred and Laura Allred return to introduce the best new super hero team you didn’t know you needed! Meet…THE X-CELLENT!

You’ll need to check out Giant Sized X-Statix from 2019 first, as that was where this team was introduced.

Bind Ups:

Captain America: Truth, Red, White And Black by Robert Morales

In every war, there are legends. And World War II birthed Captain America, the heroic Sentinel of Liberty. But in this shocking re-examination of the 1940s Super-Soldier program, a hidden and controversial chapter of history is declassified at last! Meet the unit of African-American soldiers who were involuntarily subjected to the U.S. War Department’s brutish efforts to refine the Super-Soldier Serum. And hear the story of Isaiah Bradley, who overcame all odds to don the famous red-white-and-blue on the battlefield! Robert Morales and Kyle Baker hit home with a touching, timely and thought-provoking tale that spans decades!

This is Isaiah Bradley‘s full story, so if you haven’t had a chance yet to read this, I highly recommend you do.

Mighty Marvel Masterworks: Doctor Strange World Beyond by Stan Lee and more

The stories that built the Marvel Universe, from the brilliant minds of legendary creators – now available in an accessible new format the whole family can enjoy! Dr. Stephen Strange is a once-brilliant surgeon whose own failings left his hands in ruins and his career in tatters. He desperately sought a cure, but found so much more instead. Now, Doctor Strange is the Master of the Mystic Arts, Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme – mankind’s only hope against dark and otherworldly forces! From Strange’s wicked rival Baron Mordo to the Dread Dormammu, ruler of the Dark Dimension, prepare to have your horizons widened by the mind-boggling mystic realms on display in these strange tales from Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s spellbinding, visionary run!

The perfect bind up to give your kids, if you’re looking to get them into Doctor Strange after Spider-Man No Way Home, and before Multiverse Of Madness comes out!

Moon Knight by Brian Michael Bendis Complete Collection

Captain America. Wolverine. Spider-Man. There’s nobody you’d want to have your back more than this trio of mighty Avengers. So who better for Moon Knight to call upon to lend a hand? The trouble is, they’re all in Moon Knight’s head – the latest splinters of Marc Spector’s shattered psyche! And as Spector battles his own mind to find balance in his new home of Los Angeles, a powerful criminal mastermind makes his deadly move – trafficking Ultron’s temporarily inert robot body! Can Moon Knight get his act together in time to take on this deadly threat – or is he way out of his league? Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev, who wowed readers with DAREDEVIL, reunite to deliver a unique take on another fan-favorite Marvel vigilante!

This is not one for Moon Knight beginners (that guide will be up at the end of March, just in time for the Oscar Isaac show!), it ties into other comic events and relies on knowledge of Moon Knight. But, if you are a fan of Bendis, Moon Knight, or both, it’s definitely worth checking out.

Thor Epic Collection: To Wake Mongog by Stan Lee

From the darkened depths rises a peril greater than any Thor has ever faced. Mangog threatens to unsheathe the Odinsword and bring Ragnarok upon the Norse gods in this collection of Asgardian classics! And that’s just the beginning – because in Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s THOR, there’s always another cosmic adventure around the corner! Case in point: a cosmic battle between Galactus and Ego the Living Planet; the return of “Him,” the man who would come to be known as Adam Warlock; and the universe-shaking origin of Galactus! And Thor’s adventures get personal with a surprising revelation regarding Donald Blake, the return of Jane Foster and the dramatic dance between Balder and the Norn queen Karnilla!

The third in Thor’s Epic Collection – the first three are called: The God Of Thunder, When Titans Clash and The Wrath of Odin.

Wolverine by Claremont and Miller Deluxe Edition

Chris Claremont and Frank Miller’s character-defining Wolverine tale! Logan’s vacation from the X-Men is interrupted when he discovers that his beloved, Mariko Yashida, has been married off by her criminal father Lord Shingen! When Shingen humiliates Wolverine in front of Mariko, the hero loses heart, drowning his sorrows in beer, bar fights…and the arms of wild assassin Yukio. But when betrayal strikes from an unexpected source, can Wolverine reclaim his honor and rescue Mariko and himself from Shingen’s trap? Then, the X-Men travel to Japan to rejoin their wayward teammate – but Viper and the Silver Samurai want to guarantee that the mutants’ story won’t have a happy ending. Secrets, shockers and broken hearts await in Wolverine’s legendary first solo adventure – now packed with extras including original art, rare covers and more!

If you’re a fan of Wolverine and want to read something that focuses on him, this is the place to start!

Wolverine and The X-Men by Jason Aaron Omnibus

Writer Jason Aaron’s incredible, hilarious and touching run is collected in one oversized volume! Wolverine returns to Westchester to start over with a new school, a new student body and a lot of surprises! But can Logan – and a staff including Beast, Iceman, Rachel Grey, Kitty Pryde, Storm, Husk and Doop – really lead the next generation of mutants into the future? Only if they survive the new Hellfire Club, Krakoa, Sabretooth, an army of mischievous Bamfs, war with the Avengers, the Phoenix Five and more! As new students join the school, including the time-displaced original X-Men, new threats emerge – including Frankenstein’s Murder Circus, Wolverine’s half-brother Dog Logan, Mystique, the Hellfire Academy…and S.H.I.E.L.D.! Welcome to the Jean Grey School, Wolverine – hope you survive the experience!

This is set in the aftermath of the Schism event, so you’ll have to make sure you’ve read that first, or this won’t make much sense!

And that’s everything coming out this week! What is on your pull list? I’m definitely picking up Moon Knight and Captain America: Truth!
