Name: Azura (later changed to Thena)
Superhero Name: Thena
Created By: Jack Kirby

Played By: Angelina Jolie
Powers: Superhuman strength and durability – meaning she is invulnerable to nearly all weaponry and can only be killed by spreading her molecules across a wide area, super speed and stamina, superhuman agility and reflexes, advanced healing, immune to ageing, toxins and diseases, flight, cosmic energy manipulation – meaning she can use this energy to create light, heat, concussive blasts and form handheld weapons. She also has the powers of molecular manipulation (though she’s not as good as Sersi at this), telekinesis, telepathy and teleportation. Thena also, for a time, was the Prime Eternal, before Ikaris took the title.
Mini Bio: Thena started out as Azura, but changed her name to Thena when she met Athena the Olympian god. During this meeting, it was decided that the Eternals would act as the God’s representation on Earth, and as a sign of that agreement, Azura became Thena, as the name reflected Athena’s. The two women also resembled each other closely, meaning that Thena was mistaken often for Athena, to the point where it is said that Athens was created in her honour, instead of Athena’s.
Outside of that, Thena has had a very interesting life, especially in the romance department, as Thena has had romantic relationships with two separate Deviants. The most significant of these was with Kro (rumoured to be voiced by Dan Stevens in the film), which ended in Thena becoming pregnant with twins. To keep them safe, Thena put the embryos inside of a woman called Ms Ritter, who was infertile, for her to raise them away from the Eternals and Deviants battles.
Thena’s relationship with Kro broke down when she stood against him when he lead an army to take over New York. But, when a truce was called between the teams, Thena was convinced to give him sanctuary. What she didn’t know was that she was being subtly controlled by Kro, and was furious when she found out, though she did forgive him eventually.
Another interesting fact about Thena is the fact that she is the cousin of Thanos! The two share grandparents, who were part of the original Eternals created by the Celestials.
