Yesterday I told you all about the Eternals, so today I’m going to tell you all about their creators – The Celestials!
Who Are The Celestials?
The Celestials are an alien race and are in fact, the first beings ever created. They have helped create and destroy universes, experimented on various alien races, and have ‘tested’ multiple worlds across the universe. It is currently unclear as to why they do what they do.
Why Did They Create The Eternals?
The Eternals, and the Deviants, are both part of the Celestials experiments on planet Earth from millennia ago. They weren’t a particularly special experiment, but the experiment did give way to another species too – during the Celestials experiments on humanity, they inserted a latent gene into normal humans which evolved into mutants!

Do They Have Powers?
Celestials do have powers, but each one has a different power set. The powers Celestials possess universally are nigh omnipotence, and near-immortality, making them hard to defeat in battle, and even harder to kill.
Have They Been In The MCU Before?
You will have seen Celestials before in the MCU – specifically in the Guardians Of The Galaxy films! First of all, the planet Knowhere is made from the head of a dead Celestial, and the fluids being mined by the Tivan Group are leftovers from the body.
Also, when The Collector shows the Guardians the power of the stones, we see a giant humanoid destroying an entire planet – that person was also a Celestial.
Peter Quill’s father, Ego, also claimed to be a Celestial in Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2, making Star Lord a Celestial-human hybrid.
Where Can I Read More About Them?
The Celestials don’t really have any solo comics, so your best bet for Celestial comic appearances are the Eternals runs I mentioned yesterday!
And that’s everything you need to know about the Celestials before you see the Eternals, there’s a lot more to this particular species, so if you want more information, do let me know in the comments!
