How Does Venom’s Ending Affect The Spider-Verse?

WARNING – SPOILERS FOR VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE AHEAD. LIKE THIS AND COME BACK LATER IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED VENOM YET.

The end credit scene of Venom was certainly world shaking, as Eddie and Venom ended up in the main MCU timeline, just as J Jonah Jameson was announcing that Peter Parker is Spider-man on the news!

But, how did that happen? What did happen in the first place? And how does it affect the Spider-Verse, and the MCU going forward?

Here are my theories/ideas on the matter:

First, this all has to tie into Loki, WandaVision, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness. We all know that Wanda in the comics is a Nexus being, and is capable of opening the multiverse with her powers, that Sylvie killed He Who Remains and thus broke apart the multiverse at the end of Loki, and that Doctor Strange’s spell in Spider-Man: No Way Home is bringing in Doc Ock and Green Goblin from the original Toby Maguire Spider-Man films, and that Multiverse Of Madness is also going to be focusing on the multiverse as well.

So, it’s entirely likely that Venom, as he was trying to show Eddie his memories, was caught up in one of these previously mentioned events, and got pulled through into the main MCU timeline. Judging by the timeline of the TV shows and movies, it’s likely that Eddie and Venom were caught up in Doctor Strange’s spell, or possibly the death of He Who Remains, but we’ll have to wait and see on that front!

But, this begs the question: now that Eddie and Venom are in the MCU, what are they going to do now?

Go after Spider-Man, of course!

The news report was framing Peter as a murderer, and with our favourite anti-hero pair deciding to become heroes and go after bad guys, it’s very likely that they’ll try to hunt down Peter and serve ‘justice.’ Which means, we’ll likely see Eddie and Venom become one of the antagonists of No Way Home, and watch them face off against Tom Holland’s Peter Parker (or maybe Maguire’s, seeing as he’s already faced a version of Venom before!).

As for what this could mean for the Spider-Verse going forward, it looks like we could be seeing a lot more crossovers coming – if you notice in the trailers for Morbius (not be confused with Mobius of the TVA), there images of Spider-Man with ‘murderer’ spray-painted on top in the background, so it’s also likely that Morbius has been pulled over as well.

And if two Spider-Verse characters have crossed over, and we already know that Doc Ock and Green Goblin are back, who knows who else could show up? Toby Maguire’s and Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker’s? Sandman? Electro?

What about Spider-Gwen, or Miles Morales? Penny Parker? Silk? Or any other Spider-people from across the Marvel Comic Universe?

The potential feels endless, more so than it did after Loki – we knew that the Fox-owned Marvel characters were coming, such as the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, but to see that the Spider-Verse is also seemingly joining in, we could possibly be seeing a fully, combined MCU, with every single character available to appear!

All we can say for now, is that the future of the Spider-Verse is looking very, very good!

What do you think of Venom joining the MCU? And, which Spider-Verse character would you love to see next? Let me know in the comments!
