July 14th Marvel Comic Releases

It’s time for another round up of new Marvel comics coming this week!

Single Issues:

Extreme Carnage: Scream by Clay McLeod Chapman

SCREEEEEAM!
SCREAM: CURSE OF CARNAGE writer Clay McLeod Chapman returns to the character to lend his lethal sensibilities to EXTREME CARNAGE!
Andi Benton has always been a fighter, and that’s never been truer than since she bonded to the Scream symbiote a few months ago. But even after ABSOLUTE CARNAGE and KING IN BLACK, Andi has never had to fight like this – and, worse still, if she can’t save her symbiote from whatever unseen force is affecting it, she might have to do it alone…

You will definitely need to read Absolute Carnage and King In Black before going near this!

Sinister War by Nick Spencer

DOCTOR OCTOPUS IS BACK! AND THE SINISTER WAR HAS BEGUN!
Ock’s got a new Sinister Six and if you think he’s thought big in the past, think again. What Ock DOESN’T know is that the VULTURE has a sextet of his own: THE SAVAGE SIX! It’s an all-out WAR between two of the greatest villains in the Marvel Universe, and the only person they hate more than each other is SPIDER-MAN! Spidey’s in deep trouble with the toughest battle that he’s ever faced. Nick Spencer and Mark Bagley team up for this epic Spider-Man story guaranteed to shock readers everywhere!

This is a continuation from King’s Ransom and Chameleon Conspiracy, so make sure you’re up to date with those before reading this!

Part of the King In Black event, so keep an eye out for my event guide coming this month!

History Of The Marvel Universe by Mark Waid

It’s the greatest tale ever told – and you’ve never seen it like this! Writer Mark Waid and artist Javier Rodriguez weave together a sprawling, interconnected web of stories into one seamless narrative that takes you from the dawn of the Marvel Universe all the way to its end! Far more than a collection of moments you may already know, this is a new tale featuring previously unknown secrets and shocking revelations, connecting dozens of threads from Marvel’s past and present! From the Big Bang to the twilight of existence, this sweeping saga covers every significant Marvel event, providing fresh looks at characters of all eras!

This could be a fantastic start to reading Marvel comics, I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a condensed version of Marvel’s history!

Marvel-Verse: She-Hulk by Stan Lee

She may have started out Savage, but there’s no doubt She-Hulk is the Marvel-Verse’s most Sensational hero – and these are the adventures that prove it! Discover how a lifesaving blood transfusion from her cousin, Bruce Banner, led to a green-skinned transformation for lawyer Jennifer Walters! As the emerald attorney interviews for a new law firm, Jen meets the legendary Blonde Phantom! While She-Hulk takes on the Mutant Registration Act in court, her archfoe Titania, causes serious disorder! But Jen’s most important case of all comes when she’s accused of crimes against the space-time continuum – and if she’s found guilty, the sentence is complete erasure from reality! Plus: A night at the museum…with Spider-Man!

The origin of She-Hulk, perfect for anyone looking to get into the character before the release of the tv show!

Taskmaster: Rubicon Trigger

Taskmaster has murdered S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Maria Hill! Or at least that’s what the whole world thinks. Now the greatest spies in the business are hunting him down and won’t stop until the Taskmaster is dead – or can clear his own name! So begins a globe-spanning adventure that will send ripples through the Marvel Universe’s espionage community. Taskmaster’s next target? Phil Coulson! But Coulson isn’t alone in Washington D.C. – he’s got the entire Squadron Supreme of America on speed dial! And when Taskmaster’s hunt brings him to South Korea, he’ll have to go toe-to-toe with the White Fox! His next stop is sunny Wakanda – home to Okoye and the feared Dogs of War! Can the Taskmaster find the doomsday device that Maria Hill died to protect? Or will he be played by the true mastermind behind it all?

I’d recommend reading a few other Taskmaster adventures first, just to make sure you have a grasp on the character (I posted a character profile for Taskmaster just yesterday!), but this doesn’t tie into anything specific.

Squadron Supreme Vs Avengers by Roy Thomas

Earth’s Mightiest Heroes face the champions of another reality! In the Avengers’ home dimension, Hyperion, Nighthawk, Doctor Spectrum and the Whizzer are sinister enemies! But in another world, they are the heroic Squadron Supreme…and they’re about to meet the Avengers head-on! As if the madness of Brain-Child wasn’t enough, the two teams clash in a classic world-hopping, time-bending conspiracy involving Kang and the evil Serpent Crown! Plus: Thor battles not one but two Hyperions! A reinvigorated team of Avengers meets their match, but can the stranded Squadron find a way back home? And when a new cross-reality team of survivors forms – including Blur and Power Princess – this new Squadron quickly attracts the attention of the Uncanny Avengers!

Collecting the original 1960’s comics, so there’s shouldn’t be too much to catch up on, I’d just recommend reading up on Squadron Supreme first.

Mighty Marvel Masterworks: Fantastic Four – Greatest Heroes by Stan Lee

The stories that built the Marvel Universe, from the brilliant minds of legendary creators – now available in an accessible new format the whole family can enjoy! While testing an experimental spacecraft, scientist Reed Richards, pilot Ben Grimm and siblings Sue and Johnny Storm were bombarded by mysterious cosmic rays. Upon their return to Earth, they found that they’d gained fantastic new abilities! From the boundless imaginations of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, witness Mister Fantastic, the Thing, the Invisible Girl and the Human Torch overcome their differences and band together as the Fantastic Four – and thrill to their first battles with the Mole Man, the Skrulls, the Puppet Master, the Sub-Mariner and Doctor Doom!

If you want to start at the beginning of the Fantastic Four comics, or want your kids to join in the Marvel fun, then this will be perfect!

And that’s everything being released this week, what’s on your pull list?
