7th July Marvel Comic Releases

The 7th of July isn’t just Black Widow’s UK release date, it’s also new comic book day!

Single Issues:

Extreme Carnage Alpha by Phillip Kennedy Johnson

As the dust continues to settle after the species-redefining KING IN BLACK saga, Eddie Brock and his son, Dylan, won’t be the only ones learning to adjust to a new normal. Collectively called the Life Foundation, symbiotes SCREAM, PHAGE, RIOT, LASHER and AGONY have tried to reconcile the sometimes-noble intentions of their hosts with their often-bloodthirsty impulses.
But the Life Foundation symbiotes aren’t the only ones with a part to play in this story, and they aren’t the only symbiotes who find themselves reinvented after KING IN BLACK. They have an older sibling who may be reinvented in its own right: CARNAGE.

You will without doubt need to read King In Black by Donny Cates to read this, and if you don’t know where to start with it, I’ve got a reading guide coming out this month to help you out!

X-Men by Gerry Duggan

The heroes of Krakoa are here to save the planet! Things might be complicated between the nation of Krakoa and the rest of the world, but to the X-MEN, things are simple – you do what’s right, you protect those who need protecting and you save the world we all share. Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Sunfire, Rogue, Wolverine, Synch and Polaris are the chosen champions of mutantkind, and they will not shrink from any battle for their home planet.

The next part in the latest X-Men saga, so make sure you’re all caught up on Dawn Of X, X Of Swords, Reign Of X and the Hellfire Gala! Again, if you’re confused, I’ve got the first part of a reading guide up, I’m currently just waiting for X Of Swords, etc, to be released in bind up form to carry on.

Bind Ups:

Captain America Epic Collection: Dawn’s Early Light by Roger Stern

Even for Captain America, life has rarely been this eventful! Battling the robotic Dragon Man above New York, considering a run for president and saving Manhattan from fiery destruction at the hands of Batroc and Mister Hyde is all in a day’s work. And a trip to England proves to be no vacation either as Cap encounters the vampire Baron Blood and the chilling Ghost of Greymoor Castle! Back home in the States, our hero learns that Hollywood plans to make a Captain America movie – but his greatest foe, the Red Skull, has a very different script in mind! Finally, Cap must prevent Morgan MacNeil Hardy from rewriting the American Dream – but can even Spider-Man help the Sentinel of Liberty stop a cyborg from destroying Washington, DC?

This is volume 9 in the Captain America Epic Collection series, which chronicles his life after his de-frosting from the ice. The previous available volumes are called: Captain America Lives Again, The Come Of… The Falcon, Bucky Reborn, Hero Of Hoax? Currently there seems to be nothing between volume 4 and 9, which is annoying, but hopefully these will be released soon.

King In Black: Atlantis Attacks by Greg Pak

The armies of Atlantis face the Agents of Atlas in a showdown destined to shake allegiances and break hearts! Amadeus Cho, Silk, Wave, Shang-Chi and their allies survived the War of the Realms and now protect the Portal City of Pan. But when a terrible secret incurs Atlantean King Namor’s wrath, the team may be torn asunder while war rages – and the water boils! As battle commences, Brawn takes on the Sub-Mariner! Sword Master and Shang-Chi go undercover! Wave finds herself caught between the surface world and the undersea realm of Atlantis! And prepare for the glorious return of Jimmy Woo and the original Agents of Atlas! But who are the Sirenas? In a titanic tale of love and betrayal, heroes and monsters, gods and underdogs, one empire will triumph – and one will fall!

This one ties mostly into War Of The Realms and the previous Agents Of Atlas series, but the last few pages also tie into King In Black, so make sure you’re caught up on all of that before reading this!

Wolverine Epic Collection: Blood And Claws by Larry Hama

A new chapter in the life of the berserker mutant! Lethal Larry Hama kicks off his epic run with artistic superstar Marc Silvestri! And they begin in Madripoor, where Wolverine investigates an insidious and destructive new designer drug! Then, a Yukon vacation turns deadly when Wolverine encounters the mythical Hunter in Darkness! And when Lady Deathstrike attacks, Wolverine and his old Alpha Flight buddy Puck are cast into a time vortex – and wind up reliving the Spanish Civil War! Back in the present, the Reavers cook up their deadliest cyborgs yet: Albert, a mechanical doppelganger of Wolverine, and his adorable and explosive partner, Elsie-Dee! And when the savage Sabretooth returns, convinced he’s Wolverine’s father, Jubilee, Forge, Cable and Nick Fury must come to Logan’s aid!

This is volume 3 in Wolverine’s Epic Collection, the previous volumes are: Madripoor Nights and Back To Basics.

Symbiote Spider-Man: King In Black by Peter David

Knull has set his sights on Earth in the present day, but his hand has been at work at the edge of the Marvel Universe for years! Witness one of the King in Black’s earliest attempts at birthing life from the darkness of non-creation! Take a wild trip with Spider-Man as he aligns himself with…Kang the Conqueror?! That can’t be right! The Black Knight sounds like a more sensible team-up to stop an otherworldly plot threatening to turn every living thing in the universe into creatures made of shadow! But who else will be there to help our friendly neighbourhood wall-crawler? You’ll have to see it to believe it as Peter David and Greg Land reunite to continue the untold adventures of Peter Parker in the symbiote suit!

Yet another King In Black tie in! But I’d also recommend looking into Kang The Conqueror as well before reading this one.

Black Panther: Intergalatic Empire Of Wakanda by Ta-Nehisi Coates

The end of an era for the Black Panther! Ta-Nehisi Coates’ landmark run reaches a tipping point as the ruthless N’Jadaka comes for Earth! To protect our planet from N’Jadaka’s violent invasion, the nation of Wakanda must go to war against its own future – and its first, best and only hope lies in the Panther! But where is he? Even the gods are beginning to despair – but Bast will not abandon her avatar, even if she has to recruit an outsider to save him! Coates brings T’Challa full circle, back to the home he left behind and the crown he has never fully accepted. This is the story of a king who sought to be a hero, a hero reduced to a slave and a slave who advanced into legend!

This is a huge Black Panther run, and it’s not to be missed! The previous volumes are: A Nation Under Our Feet books 1, 2 and 3, Avengers Of The New World Parts 1 and 2 and finally The Intergalatic Empire Of Wakanda parts 1, 2 and 3. This book is listed as book 4.

And that’s everything being released today! What’s on your pull list this week? For me, I’m definitely getting Black Panther!
