5 Bisexual Marvel Comic Characters

SPOILERS FOR LOKI EPISODE 3. IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN EPISODE 3 OF LOKI, DO NOT READ THIS BLOG POST!

It’s finally happened – we have a canon LGBTQIA+ Marvel character in the MCU! And not only that, he’s a fan favourite, lead character!

That’s right, Loki, during Pride Month, came out as bisexual in Loki episode 3! And, to make it even better, Sylvie was also hinted at as also being bisexual!

It’s been a very, very, very long time coming, and definitely should have happened sooner, but hopefully this is the start to a wave of Marvel characters coming out as LGBTQIA+!

So, to celebrate the hopeful start of a more diverse MCU, I’m going to give you 5 examples of confirmed bisexual Marvel comic characters!

Kitty Pryde

Kitty Pryde by Russell Dauterman and Matthew Wilson

Kitty Pryde, aka Shadowcat/Red Queen is bisexual! Chris Claremont, her creator, always intended for her to be bisexual during his X-Men run, and for the love of her life to be Rachel Summers, but the Comics Code Authority forbid it at the time. Since then, Kitty’s sexuality has been theorised over and hinted at for years, even as she dated Colossus, and was only recently confirmed when Kitty kissed her female tattoo artist during Dawn Of X. Sadly, nothing more has been said on the matter since, but it is nice to have the confirmation at last!

Daimon Hellstrom

Hellstrom by Arthur Suydam

Hellstrom, from the very short-lived show Hellstrom, is also bisexual, which was revealed recently when he flirted with Wiccan, who revealed he was engaged to Hulkling. Before then, Daimon was married to Hell-Cat.

Mystique

Mystique by Joseph Linsner

Mystique has had a few romantic relationships with variance Marvel characters over the years, but her three most serious were with Wolverine, Iceman (who later revealed that he’s gay) and Destiny – a woman with precognitive abilities – who she eventually married.

Nico Minoru

Nico and Karolina by Kris Anka

Nico is part of the Runaways and the A-Force, and has been dating Runaways team mate Karolina Dean for some time now. This has also been made canon in the TV show The Runaways, which aired for three seasons.

Star Lord

Star Lord by Chris Samnee and Matthew Wilson

And finally, the latest character to come out as bisexual in the Marvel comic universe – Star Lord! During Chip Zdarsky’s latest Guardians Of The Galaxy run, Peter is revealed to have been living in another reality (long story, go check out the comic!), in a polyamorous relationship with two characters called Mors and Aradia. Meeting the two of them made him realise his bisexuality, and he stayed with them for 144 years (again, long story, go read the comic for full details!).

Sadly, shortly after this, the run was cancelled, but author Chip Zdarsky has confirmed that if the series had continued, he would have introduced a new male romantic interest for Peter.

And that’s my top 5 bisexual Marvel Comic characters! Who are your favourites? Who do you wish to see come out next in the MCU? Let me know down in the comments!
