There’s a lot of new comics and bind ups being released this New Comic Book Day, so let’s get into it!

Years ago, Magneto and Professor X led Earth’s mutants in a final push for independence against the Squadron Supreme of America. What followed was the Squadron’s Mutant Massacre, a violent rebuttal that left Mutantkind forever wounded, and Xavier dead…or so Magneto thought. Years later, Magneto discovers Xavier clinging to life in the astral plane and gathers his allies for a first-of-its-kind rescue mission. A new bind up of various Shang-Chi adventures – I reckon you need at least a little amount of knowledge on the character, but this is a great way to get to know him better!

And all these tales are linked together by an overarching story by Ross featuring the dread dream lord Nightmare, who threatens the entire Marvel Universe – and possibly beyond! Featuring Spider-Man, the Avengers, the X-Men, the Thing, Doctor Doom, the Vision, Namor, the Sub-Mariner, Warlock, Rocket Raccoon, the Golden Age Black Widow and more! 

Definitely not one for new readers – this relies on a lot of previous knowledge. But, if you are desperate to read it, at least look up the characters mentioned in the synopsis!

Recent events have taken their toll on Peter Parker’s world. In the wake of “Last Remains,” you’ll never look at Norman or Harry Osborn the same again! We know Spider-Man certainly won’t. But as Spidey continues to pick up the pieces and put his life back together, the gathering storms are swirling more and more violently. Mister Negative is back and wants only one thing: His own alter ego, Martin Li! But how is that possible? Meanwhile, Peter and Mary Jane have been through so much, and the specter of Spider-Man has been a constant strain on their relationship from day one. Is there anything left for them to cling to? As one era comes to a shocking end, an unexpected new day is dawning!

Definitely read Mark Waid’s Champions, followed by Jim Zub run, as well as Dawn Of X (or at least the X-Men and Marauders runs), just to make sure you’re all caught up before you read this!

Acclaimed writer Mike Grell takes the iron reigns! Weapons that Tony Stark once created and sold are now being used to kill innocents, and Iron Man’s past has returned to haunt him yet again. Can he stop the carnage before it’s too late? Meanwhile, at the top of the world, precious cargo is delivered to a remote monastery. And when the ornate box is unlocked, Stark’s most malevolent foe will be reborn! Then, Iron Man travels back to the age of knights and chivalry – and must pit his armour against dragon fire! And Iron Man takes on Thor when the Asgardians decide to meddle in Earthly affairs! But when terrorists target the Chinese embassy, why is Tony Stark the prime suspect?!

To be honest, I don’t know much about this one at all, so I can’t really give any advice! My only advice is that it may be an idea to check out the previous 49 issues from the 1998 Iron Man run before reading this, just in case!

As Asgardia’s one-man secret service, Loki is ready to lie, cheat and steal his way through the most treacherous missions the All-Mother can throw at him – starting with a heart-stopping heist at Avengers Tower! Loki takes on Lorelei in Monte Carlo’s casinos, heads to the ancient past on a quest for a magical sword and puts together a crew to crack the deepest dungeons of Asgardia itself! This is set after Journey Into Mystery so definitely read that first!

Peter David’s fan-favorite run continues as the Hulk gets an unexpected promotion to leader of the Pantheon! But will their immortal infighting weigh him down? And when rage overpowers the Hulk, can he cope with a new wrinkle in the Banner/Hulk relationship? All this and the wedding of the century! 

The first two volumes in this series are just called ‘volume 1’ and ‘volume 2.’
