Marvel just dropped a sizzle real revealing all their theatrical releases for the next two years!
So, you’re now probably wanting to read some comics in prep for these films! If you’re one of those people, you’ve come to the right place, because I have a comic recommendation for every movie announced today!
Black Widow

Home is where the hurt is!
And the Black Widow has plenty of that. She may be an Avenger and an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., but the Widow has her own mission: to atone for her past as a KGB assassin. Her methods are dirty. Her heart is cold. But her work is flawless. On an undercover assignment in Russia, she finds that the Hand of God is reaching for her–and it’s as merciless as its name. Outmatched by the brute force of this powerful new villain, Natasha discovers a deadly globe-spanning plot. It’s a race against time, and the Widow has nowhere to turn for answers. The trail of blood and destruction will test her strength and cunning–but it may also test her faith.
This series is a fantastic Black Widow run! It may not have that much to do with the movie, but it’s still a great series to read!
Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings

THE MASTER RETURNS! An ancient and evil secret society has stayed in hiding since the death of their leader, Zheng Zhu. But now his successor has been chosen to shift the balance of power in the world…Zheng Zhu’s son, Shang-Chi! Witness the Marvel Universe’s greatest fighter return to a world of death and destruction he thought he left behind long ago…and discover the secrets to Shang-Chi’s past that will change his world forever Don’t miss out on this epic tale of family, betrayal and justice as the incredible team of Gene Luen Yang (American Born Chinese), Dike Ruan (SPIDER-VERSE, BLACK CAT) and Philip Tan (UNCANNY X-MEN) launch a new chapter in the legend of Shang-Chi!
This comic works as a semi-soft reboot for Shang-Chi, so is absolutely perfect for anyone who wants to get to know Shang-Chi, but don’t want to go all the way back to his original, 70’s, comic run!
The Eternals

“The Gods Are Coming Back!” Jack Kirby reveals a secret history of heroes and horrors as humanity’s cousins, the Eternals and the Deviants, vie to inherit the Earth! It’s a time of Titans, Terror and Time Travel – as only the King could conceive! Guest-starring the Incredible Hulk (or at least an unreasoning facsimile thereof)! Collects Eternals #1-19 & Annual #1 This is sold on a non-returnable basis.
Jack Kirby is one of the kings of comics, and the Eternals is one of his best! This is their original introduction, so there is no better place to start.
Spider-Man: No Way Home

J. Michael Straczynski is a man who has made his mark in many ways whether in the world of science fiction and television with the hit Babylon 5 or in the comic book industry with such books as Rising Stars and Midnight Nation. Now his unique vision comes to the world of Marvel and the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man! Joining Straczynski is a man of equal legend — John Romita Jr. Regarded by many as the definitive Spider-Man artist of the last decade, Romita’s unique pace and superb storytelling perfectly complement Straczynski’s vision.
Another soft reboot, this time for Spider-Man. So, if you want to get to know Peter Parker a bit better, but don’t want to go all the way back to the beginning, this will be perfect for you!
Doctor Strange And The Multiverse Of Madness

Doctor Stephen Strange embarks on the most important paranormal investigation of his career, as he sets out to solve an attempted murder – his own! And with his most trusted friend also at death’s door, Strange turns to an unexpected corner of the Marvel Universe to recruit a new ally.
Doctor Strange: The Oath is another origin story of sorts – it introduces Stephen and how he became Sorcerer Supreme, while also giving new readers a good look into what Stephen does in his day to day life!
Thor Love And Thunder

A trail of blood consumes Thor’s past, present and future! Throughout the ages, gods are vanishing – and Thor must unravel the gruesome mystery of Gorr the God Butcher! In the distant past, Thor discovers a cave that echoes with the cries of tortured gods. In the present, Thor follows the bloody wake of murdered gods across the depths of space. And millennia from now, the last god-king of Asgard makes his final stand. All three time-bending Thors must unite -but will it all be for naught if the massive Godbomb is triggered? Elsewhere, Malekith the Accursed makes his return! As the former lord of the dark elves begins a bloody rampage, Thor must fi nd a new league of allies to aid him! And back on Midgard, what’s going on with Dr. Jane Foster?
There is absolutely no better run to read in the lead up to Thor: Love And Thunder than Jason Aaron’s. This run is the direct inspiration for the film, so you literally cannot go wrong in reading this!
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Marvel Studios’ blockbuster film Black Panther has everyone talking about Wakanda’s best warriors, the fierce Dora Milaje. Now witness the Dora outside of Wakanda – and in Spider-Man’s world! When the Dora catch wind of a threat brewing outside their borders, they’ll leap into action – with or without their king. Don’t miss Okoye, Ayo and others in their solo mission to protect the realm at any cost.
Now, I have no idea if Wakanda Forever is actually based on Wakanda Forever the comic, but I couldn’t resist recommending it, simply on the name. I will warn you though: this comic is presents a very different take on Nakia!
The Marvels

The “Mightiest” of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is back!
Ace pilot. Legendary Avenger. One hundred percent pure bad-@$$. Carol Danvers has a new name, a new mission – and all the power she needs to make her own life a living hell. As the new Captain Marvel, Carol is forging from a challenge from her past!
It’s a firefight in the sky as the Banshee Squadron debut – but who are the Prowlers, and where has Carol seen them before? And how does secret NASA training program Mercury 13 fit in? Witness Captain Marvel in blazing battlefield action that just may change the course of history! Avengers Time Travel Protocols: engage!
This run may not be a Captain Marvel origin story, but it does feature Carol working with Monica Rambeau, who is confirmed to be in this film!

Kamala Khan is an ordinary girl from Jersey City — until she’s suddenly empowered with extraordinary gifts. But who truly is the new Ms. Marvel? Teenager? Muslim? Inhuman? Find out as she takes the Marvel Universe by storm! When Kamala discovers the dangers of her newfound powers, she unlocks a secret behind them, as well. Is Kamala ready to wield these immense new gifts? Or will the weight of the legacy before her be too much to bear? Kamala has no idea, either. But she’s comin’ for you, Jersey!
Kamala’s origin story, and you’ll definitely want to know more about her, as she is also starring in The Marvels, as well as making her Disney+ debut later this year!
Ant Man And The Wasp: Quantumania

In the wake of Avengers Disassembled, a mysterious new group of teen super heroes appears. But who are they? Where did they come from? And what right do they have to call themselves the Young Avengers?
This recommendation is a little out there, but hear me out: Young Avengers are rumoured to be a) coming to the MCU and b) debuting in Ant Man 3. Even if that’s not right, this comic still focuses on two confirmed Quantumania characters: Cassie Lang and Kang The Conquerer, so it makes sense to read this in the lead up to the film’s release. Again, there is a little pre-reading, you’ll need to read Avengers Disassembled.
Guardians Of The Galaxy volume 3

A new era of cosmic adventure begins! The Guardians of the Galaxy have taken off into space once more on their biggest and weirdest misadventures yet! Kicking things off with the boldest heist they’ve ever pulled, Star-Lord, Rocket and company blast their way through the galaxy -with the peacekeepers of the Nova Corps hot on their tail! And soon enough, they find themselves caught in a war between the Collector and the Grandmaster! Will there be any room to explain why Groot can’t grow any bigger, what Gamora is searching for, or why Drax has sworn off violence?! You bet there will – the all-new Guardians of the Galaxy has space for all your Marvel Cosmic needs!
This run has some call backs to previous comics, but it’s also described as the most movie-accurate. The Guardian’s generally have different personalities and backstories in the comics, but this one is designed for fans of the movies!
Fantastic Four

The wait is over! The Thing, the Human Torch, the Invisible Woman and Mr. Fantastic – the fi rst four heroes of the Marvel Age of Comics -are about to be reunited! Nothing is impossible anymore. Anything can happen. It’s time. Jump in and be part of the grand return of the greatest family in the Marvel Universe! As an event occurs that will forever change the Fantastic Four, the next chapter begins in the life of Victor Von Doom. Meanwhile, Alicia Masters adopts two kittens. And no, they’re not Skrulls. They’re two normal, everyday kittens! FANTASTIC FOUR is a book about the grand, cosmic wonder of the Marvel Universe. It’s also about family and real life. And people get pets. Stop obsessing about Alicia’s kittens.
Admittedly, you will have to read Secret Wars before this run to find out more about the Richards’ disappearance. But, personally, I managed reading it just fine, and to be honest, this series is just plain fun to read! It’s a little cheesy and slightly ridiculous, but it brought me back to my childhood, and I loved it, so I think you will too!
And that’s all the recommendations I’ve got at the moment! I will be focusing on each of these characters and teams as their films come out, so watch this space!
For now though, I hope this helps out, if you want more recommendations, or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask, I’m more than happy to answer anything I can!
