17th February Marvel Comic Releases

There’s only two single issues being released today, but there are LOADS of new bind ups!

Single Issues:

Immortal Hulk: Flatline by Declan Shalvey

Declan Shalvey writes and draws an IMMORTAL HULK tale that gets to the heart of gamma! Every morning, Bruce Banner wakes up in a new place. The Hulk is trying to tell him something – but Bruce has had enough of his green-veined alters. When a new gamma-powered villain shows up in a small New Mexico town, Bruce is forced to confront the source of his anger… and it’s not what you expect. Don’t miss an extraordinary tale from one of the industry’s top talents!

This is actually a one-shot (a story told in a single issue) based within the Al Ewing and Joe Bennet Immortal Hulk continuity. I’d definitely check that series out first, just to make sure you know what’s going on in Bruce’s world!

X-Men Legends by Fabian Nicieza

Break out the yellows and blues, fire up the Danger Room and snap on your pouches as legendary X-writers return to classic eras of the mutant super heroes in ALL-NEW, in-continuity stories set during their fan-favourite runs! Fabian Nicieza kicks off the series with a special saga of CYCLOPS and HAVOK, as the SHI’AR return to Earth in search of the FORSAKEN ONE! But what secret will the Summers brothers uncover, and how will its revelation change what you thought you knew about the X-Men?
Get ready for a story decades in the making! And come back each month as we dive deeper to expand the X-MEN mythos! Welcome back, legends: Hope you survive the experience.

Now this is one for the fans of in the 90’s X-Men run! This issue actually goes back to X-Men issue 23 from 1993 (written by the same author) and fills in some plot theories fans have been speculating over for years! If you haven’t read the 1990’s X-Men, you will definitely need to to read this, but I am sure it will be worth it!

Bind Ups:

Plus: A date with the Human Torch! And will Cindy ever find her family?

Cindy’s story started in the Spider-Verse event, so I’d definitely recommend reading that first. I have a complete reading order here.

Ms. Marvel is joining the big leagues! Look out, world – Kamala Khan is an Avenger! But is she really cut out to be one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? Then, as the superhuman CIVIL WAR II brews, young Avengers Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel and Nova have bigger things to worry about – like a tristate academic competition! But when Kamala gets called to the real battle’s front line, she’ll learn a valuable lesson: Never meet your idols!

This collects Kamala’s second series! Her first series is also written by G Willow Wilson and it starts with ‘No Normal.’

Meanwhile, after the events of the past several weeks, Matt Murdock continues to struggle with how best to appease his sense of justice. But he’d better think fast, because the criminals of his neighborhood aren’t inclined to give him any more time to heal. As the likes of Typhoid Mary and Bullseye make their murderous presence known once more, what designs does Elektra have for the Kitchen, the city…and maybe the world? Chip Zdarsky’s Eisner Award-nominated DAREDEVIL saga continues!

Celebrate twenty years of EVOLUTION with the complete comic book adventures of the Bayville squad! Twenty years ago, the animated series X-MEN: EVOLUTION reinvented the Children of the Atom for a whole new generation – recasting many of Marvel’s merry mutants as teenagers who attend Bayville High School at the same time as training to protect a world that hates and fears them! With Professor X, Wolverine, Storm and Beast for teachers, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Rogue and Kitty Pryde are joined by new sensation Spyke – but will the toad-like Todd Tolanski make the grade? Will Fred Dukes be the big man on campus? And is a mystery mastermind pulling everyone’s strings? The X-Men meet their match in the Mimic – and make way for new recruits including Iceman, Cannonball, Sunspot, Wolfsbane, Multiple Man and Boom-Boom!

Dawn Of X volume 13 by Gerry Duggan

Galactic empires rock the Dawn of X! Nathan Summers has a new sword – but the Spaceknights of Galador want to pry it from his grasp! Plus: Deadpool considers Cable one of his oldest and best friends. But thanks to time travel, young Cable hasn’t met Deadpool…yet. Nathan’s in for a treat! Elsewhere, when the Cotati set up shop on the moon in their war with the Kree, Skrulls and Earth itself, what will the neighbours – the Summers family – have to say? And as the Cotati conflict rages across the globe, Angel, Magik and more X-Men join the frontlines in Genosha! They say war is hell – and that’s certainly true when you’re dealing with alien plants vs. mutant zombies vs. weird old ladies!

The next in the Dawn Of X event – I’ve got a handy guide here for anyone who’s a bit confused about the reading order, as there are two versions!

Captain America: Heroes Return Complete Collection volume 1 by Mark Waid

Back from the world of Heroes Reborn, Steve Rogers is ready to serve as the Sentinel of Liberty once again! The world is happy to have Captain America back – but as his popularity rises and a wave of “Capmania” reaches a dangerous fever pitch, is something sinister going on behind the scenes? Meanwhile, when Cap’s shield is lost at the bottom of the ocean, he must adjust to life without his signature weapon. And he’d better do it fast, because Hydra is rising – with a bizarre new leader. And the lord of the dream dimension is plotting to turn Cap’s life into an American nightmare! Plus: Cap teams up with Iron Man to take on M.O.D.O.K. and crosses paths with the new Citizen V!

Seeing as this is set after the events of Heroes Reborn, I would definitely say to read that first, just to make sure you’re caught up with Steve’s continuity.

Black Panther: Who Is Black Panther? Marvel Select by Reginald Hudlin

But now outsiders are once more assembling to invade Wakanda and plunder its riches – led by Klaw, a deadly assassin who murdered T’Challa’s father. Even with Wakanda’s might and his own superhuman skills, can the Black Panther prevail against Klaw’s massive invasion force?

Reginald Hudlin is an author who has been credited with writing the definitive Black Panther stories, and this is the start of that run! There is no better place to start than this if you are looking for T’Challa’s comic adventures!

Gillis and Denys Cowan craft a compelling and contemporary tale as the Black Panther fights apartheid in the neighbouring nation of Azania.

Or, if you want to go back even earlier, to the start of T’Challa’s story, then look no further than this epic collection, and it’s predecessor Panther’s Rage! Between the two, you’ll get T’Challa’s original origins, and his earliest stories!

And that’s everything being released this new comic book day! What’s on your pull list? Strange Academy is at the top of mine!
