16th December Marvel Comic Releases

This New Comic Book Day, there’s only two new issues, both King In Black tie-ins, and a tonne of new bind ups!

Single Issues:

Black Cat: King In Black by Jed MacKay

Feeling lucky? Knull’s attack on Earth interrupts the Black Cat’s latest heist, and if you know Felicia, you know that’s a problem. So the Cat and her crew aim to steal something of greatest value to both Knull and Earth’s hope of survival. You’ll have to pick up this issue to find out what! This issue guest-stars the X-Men! Captain America! And Doctor Strange! DO NOT MISS IT!!!

A new tie-in to the King In Black event, so make sure you’ve read that first!

Immortal Hulk: King In Black by Al Ewing

The Hulk is in a bad place. Half of his alters are dead or missing – including Bruce Banner – and the Leader’s got the rest of him on the ropes. But never let it be said that Joe Fixit doesn’t know how to have a good time – and he’s out to make sure this is the best holiday the Hulk’s ever had. He just has to fight his way through a planet of symbiotes first.

Like I said, both new issues are King In Black tie-ins, so the same advice applies to this and Black Cat!

Bind Ups:

Captain America: Winter Soldier Complete Collection by Ed Brubaker

The instant-classic saga that brought Bucky Barnes back from the dead – and introduced the world to the Winter Soldier! The shocking murder of the Red Skull leaves an unfinished Cosmic Cube at large. Adding to the imminent danger, a cadre of the Skull’s followers sets in motion a plan to ignite bombs in the hearts of Paris, London and Manhattan! Racing against the rapidly ticking clock, the Star-Spangled Avenger must not only solve the mystery of his nemesis’ murder but also find the Cube before it can be used to rewrite reality! But who is the Winter Soldier – a lethal killer with an all-too-familiar face? The questions plaguing Captain America’s dreams are answered in the most brutal way possible, tearing open old wounds and threatening to carve new scars that will never heal!

A reprinting of the comic collection that introduced the Winter Soldier to the world! Perfect for anyone who wants to read something Winter Soldier related before the Falcon And The Winter Soldier TV show comes out!

MMW Ghost Rider Vol 2 by Tony Isabella

Marvel’s hell-bound super hero, Ghost Rider, hits the road for a second Marvel Masterworks! Johnny Blaze’s adventures begin with the return of Zodiac, an organized-crime gang powered by agents of Hell, in a plot that can only be foiled with the help of the super-heroic Stunt-Master! Then, after fighting for his very soul against Satan himself, Ghost Rider finds himself teaming up with the Ever-Lovin’ Thing in mortal combat against the ever-angry Hulk and in league with the ever-courageous Champions! And if you thought the Orb was finis, think again as Marvel’s deadliest eyeball returns to extract another pound of Ghost Rider flesh! Plus: With Karen Page having joined Ghost Rider’s cast, Daredevil makes the scene in a crossover classic drawn by John Byrne!

You’ll need volume 1 to read this collection, but otherwise should be fine!

X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills Extended Cut Gallery Edition by Chris Claremont

In 1982, writer Chris Claremont was in the midst of his legendary run on UNCANNY X-MEN, changing the comics landscape forever and creating a new standard for super hero fiction! With a wealth of ideas, Claremont wasn’t contained to the main title alone, and he joined forces with industry giant Brent Anderson for a graphic novel titled God Loves, Man Kills. This groundbreaking story saw the X-Men teaming up with their most bitter enemy, Magneto, against an adversary threatening all of mutantkind in the name of God. Now, Marvel proudly presents this all-new edition of one of Marvel’s finest ever tales – complete with a new framing sequence by the original creators and a gallery of celebratory variant covers by Marcos Martin!

God Loves, Man Kills is a classic comic, so if you’re looking to catch up on the classics, now is your chance! This is also a brilliant thing to read if you’re a fan of the second X-Men film, as this was the basis for it!

U.S Agent: Good Fight by Mark Gruenwald

An all-American hero with an attitude! First he was the heroic Super-Patriot, and then he was Steve Rogers’ replacement as Captain America – but John Walker’s true destiny lay in the red, white and black garb of the U.S.Agent, and these are some of his edgiest adventures! First, see how Walker comes to wield Cap’s shield! Then, U.S.Agent hunts the murderous Scourge of the Underworld and seeks answers about mixed-up memories that throw his past into doubt! When U.S.Agent is handpicked by the Commission to take charge of the country’s superhuman incarceration, it’s his chance to finally get out of Captain America’s shadow – unless a deadly conspiracy, a woman from his past and his own bullheadedness mess it all up!

A.S. Agent is turning up in the Falcon And The Winter Soldier TV show, so now’s the perfect time to get to know him!

Spider-Woman Volume 1: Bad Blood by Karla Pacheco

Spider-Woman is back, and she’s pulling no punches! Jessica Drew hasn’t been feeling like herself lately. When the angry, irritable and unwell Spider-Woman takes a simple security gig to help her get back on her feet, she finds herself besieged by unknown forces out to destroy everything around her. But what does Jessica’s illness have to do with the daughter of her old nemesis, Otto Vermis? And how does a shipment of black-market spiders fit in? Jessica Drew is fighting for her life while someone is pulling the strings of her web. She soon finds herself forced back to where it all began – Wundagore Mountain, the nightmarish place that gave her powers – but who is making her relive her traumas? The answers are about to get personal! This is the Spider-Woman book you’ve been waiting for!

You’ll need a basic understanding on Spider-Woman to read this, but otherwise you’ll be fine reading this!

Marvels X by Alex Ross and Jim Krueger

The amazing prequel to the legendary EARTH X trilogy! David has a problem. He’s the last normal human on Earth. He lives in a world of monsters that would love to devour him. And these monsters are his former neighbours – mutating, like the rest of the world, into something strange and frightening and new. David has one hope: to get to New York, where Captain America and the rest of the heroes are. But the big city doesn’t bring the safety he hoped it would. And the heroes don’t know how to cope with a world that’s changing all around them. No matter what Spider-Man or Daredevil or even Doctor Strange do to protect him, they can’t save David from what is hunting him!

The Earth X trilogy is an absolute classic Marvel series, and Marvels X is where it starts! This is a self contained event too, so you can just start here without an issue!

Doctor Strange Surgeon Supreme: Under The Knight by Mark Waid

The impossible has happened! Stephen Strange’s hands have been healed, restoring the surgical skills he lost long ago! But now Doctor Strange finds himself torn between his obligations as the Sorcerer Supreme – and as a life-saving neurosurgeon! And when Strange is forced to choose which set of vows he must uphold, who will suffer for it? After all, magic always has a cost -and the threats are mounting! Like the Wrecker of Reality! A patient’s heavy metal tattoos come to life! And more! Plus: Doctor Druid returns – but has he truly renounced all magic as he claims? Or is something more sinister brewing in the halls of the McCarthy Medical Institute? Join Stephen Strange, M.D., for a new era of modern medicine, mystic arts…and horror!

This series may have been cancelled, but I am ridiculously excited to finally read this, after waiting so long for it to be printed! Again, it’s another one that doesn’t tie in to an event, so you can read it without anything else!

And that’s everything being released today! What’s on your pull list? I’m getting Surgeon Supreme and Marvel’s X!
