Another week, another new comic book day! This week is a little thin on single issues, but there’s plenty of bind ups to go around!
Single Issues

Power Pack is back! Katie, Julie, Jack and Alex Power have been super-heroing since they were learning to tie their own shoes. It’s been ages since they fought side by side as a family, but a special occasion – and an old grudge – is about to put the gang back together. There’s just one teeny tiny hiccup: a brand-new law restricting underage super heroes! But surely, if the fate of all New York City is at stake, the powers that be will make an exception? Keep your fingers crossed as the Power siblings fight for their right to save the world!
Power Pack is a middle grade comic, AKA, aimed at a younger audience, so it’s perfect for any of your budding comic book readers! This is the start of a new series, but I would recommend looking up previous Power Pack comics by Louise Simonson first.

The wheel of fortune turns. The unfortunate fall.
A sword against the darkness.
The next in the X of Swords series – so if you want to read this, you’ll want House Of X/Powers Of X, Dawn Of X and the previous X of Swords (Creation and Stasis) first. I’ll be coming out with a full reading list next month, for those who want it!
Bind ups:

What’s worse than one mayhem-inducing alien symbiote? Two. What’s worse than that? Three! That’s right: Venom’s offspring, Carnage, is about to give birth itself – to a symbiotic creature of indescribable power and appetite. The question is, who’s gonna bring up baby? Not Cletus Kasady – the psychopathic serial killer wants to end his “son’s” life before it’s even begun! But as Venom and Carnage clash violently over the fate of their progeny, the newborn symbiote claims a host – and a New York City police officer finds himself drawn into a world of madness and mayhem! Can he rise to the occasion and tame the literal beast within, or will the newly minted Toxin break bad? Spider-Man and the Black Cat join the fray as symbiotes battle to the death and one man fights for his soul!
This is a reprinting of a series from 2007, so you don’t have to worry about catching up with the current Venom/Carnage escapades. You should be able to read this on its own without problems.

The Black Panther’s techno-genius sister stars in her own incredible adventures! T’Challa has disappeared, and Wakanda expects Shuri to lead their great nation in his absence! But she’s happiest in a lab surrounded by her inventions. She’d rather be testing gauntlets than throwing them down! So it’s time for Shuri to rescue her brother yet again – with a little help from Storm, Rocket Raccoon and Groot! But what happens when her outer-space adventure puts Africa at risk from an energy-sapping alien threat? Then, Shuri heads to America to investigate a lead, with Ms. Marvel and Miles “Spider-Man” Morales along for the ride! But with her people in peril, will Shuri embrace her reluctant destiny and become the Black Panther once more? Prepare for a hero like you’ve never seen before!
The bind up of the 2018 Shuri run, for those who missed it the first time round! Again, this is a limited run that doesn’t tie into anything else, so as long as you’ve watched Black Panther, or read some Black Panther comics, you’ll be fine reading this!

Captain Britain, Gambit, Rogue, Jubilee and Rictor are the new Excalibur! Together they’re about to face an old foe! Only this time they are the hunters – and the Warwolves are the game! The team has just been baptized by fire in a bloody and brutal struggle against Morgan Le Fay – and though Otherworld, the source of Captain Britain’s power, has been liberated from Morgan’s magical clutches, many threats remain! Excalibur begins a journey to the mystical Starlight Citadel – but why is London burning behind them? When the Citadel commits an act of war, Excalibur must respond! Torn between Otherworld, Britain and Krakoa, Betsy Braddock will make her hardest decision yet. And deep in Otherworld, Apocalypse forges ahead toward his ultimate goal.
Another bind up in the Dawn of X series, which I’ve explained here. Essentially, as long as you’ve either got Excalibur volume 1, you can buy this, or if you’ve got the Dawn Of X series, you don’t need this.

EMPYRE rocks the Fantastic Four’s world! First, the Mole Man and his biggest monsters return to the surface, bent on destroying one man: Wyatt Wingfoot! Can the Human Torch and Sky possibly save him on their own? Elsewhere, a never-before-seen Elder of the Universe steps into the light to change things for Marvel’s First Family – forever! As the FF find themselves neck-deep in the events of EMPYRE, Franklin and Valeria face a looming crisis back on Earth that calls for the aid of a couple of former members of the New Fantastic Four: Spider-Man and Wolverine! With the entire cosmos at stake, can Ghost Rider and the Hulk be far behind? And can the Richards siblings rise to the challenge before them? All this, plus – wait, when was Iceman a member of the FF?!
This is luckily the start of the Empyre series, so you’ll only need to read the previous five Fantastic Four volumes (Fourever, Mr and Mrs Grimm, The Herald Of Doom, Thing Vs Immortal Hulk and Point Of Origin) and possibly Road To Empyre, to read this one!

Sharon Carter is one of the world’s most capable and determined secret agents! Grandniece of World War II agent Peggy Carter, the S.H.I.E.L.D. operative called Agent 13 proudly upholds her family’s fight for truth and justice. Now, thrill to some of her greatest battles! From her first encounter with Captain America as they battle Batroc the Leaper, to Sharon’s tenure as director of S.H.I.E.L.D.! But when Cap and Sharon team up to face down Crossbones and Sin, will their long-buried feelings for each other resurface? Plus: Sharon joins the Black Widow to hunt down a rogue assassin-and defends Avengers Tower from the Absorbing Man!
This one is definitely for fans of Sharon Carter and want to know more about her! This will give you a good start on her origins, and give you more to explore with the character!

The last White Event changes everything as Jonathan Hickman’s sprawling saga continues! The Starbrand has manifested, but will he be Earth’s mightiest hero…or the biggest threat to the Avengers’ world? Meanwhile, tensions run high between the Black Panther and the Sub-Mariner as hidden connections between the events of AVENGERS and NEW AVENGERS begin to be revealed! Earth’s Origin Sites go active, signaling something ancient out in the cosmos! The terror scientists of A.I.M. unveil their latest scheme! The High Evolutionary stakes his claim on the Children of the Sun! Hyperion learns the true cost of the decisions he made in the Savage Land! And the techno-titan Terminus returns! Plus: A solo tale of the newest Avenger – Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu!
Get Volume 1 first, but you should be fine otherwise. Also, this is part of the lead up to Secret Wars, so if that’s an event you want to read, you’ll definitely need these collections!
And that’s the last of this week’s releases! What is everyone buying? I’m definitely getting the next Fantastic Four, and Shuri’s bind up!
