14th October Marvel Comic Releases

It’s an interesting week, as there’s only one #1 single issue coming out, and everything else is all bind ups!

Single issue:

X Of Swords Handbook by Mike O’Sullivan and The Ohotmu Team

The dramatic new era for mutantkind takes centre stage in the official handbook!
This all-new collection of X-Men-related profiles will bring you up-to-date on Apocalypse, Wolverine (Logan), Magik (Rasputin) and Meggan just in time for X of Swords! This issue includes profiles for Cypher, Moira MacTaggert, two Captains Britain (Brian and Betsy Braddock) and Krakoa itself! Plus: the young Cable (Nathan Summers) and the X-Men!

You will probably know who each of these characters are if you’ve been following the Dawn of X event, but best to get this too, just in case!

Bind ups:

X-Men Milestones: Age of X by Mike Carey

The biggest and best adventures of Marvel’s mighty mutants – these are the X-Men Milestones! In a world where the X-Men never existed and mutantkind has been hunted to extinction, the few remaining Homo superior have banded together to make their last stand. The weary mutants spend each day securing the walls of their stronghold, Fortress X, in a seemingly endless battle to beat back the anti-mutant forces that would see them wiped out. But when a conspiracy is discovered within Fortress X itself, could it be that mutantkind’s last bastion will crumble from the inside out? When the dust settles, no one will be left unscathed – but what is the terrible truth about the Age of X?

I LOVED this comic when I read it last year! It’s a truly fantastic story and I cannot recommend it enough! It is a tie-in to the House Of M series, but I’d say it isn’t essential to have read that before reading this, though I would still say to check out House Of M, because I love it so much!

Winter Soldier by Ed Brubaker Complete Collection

He’s been Bucky and Captain America – now, James Barnes returns to the role of the Winter Soldier! When ex-Russian sleeper agents awaken, the trail leads to Latveria, and Winter Soldier and Black Widow come face-to-face with Doctor Doom! Can Marvel’s superspies prevent war with Latveria? Can Barnes stop the sleepers he himself trained? Old enemies resurface with new identities, and Winter Soldier and Black Widow’s hunt gets personal after a savage murder. Now, Barnes must save the Widow from her own past! But even with help from Avengers teammates Wolverine, Captain America and Hawkeye, the Winter Soldier must decide whether he is willing to sacrifice everything to save his love. Master CAPTAIN AMERICA writer Ed Brubaker wraps up his critically acclaimed run here – and nobody escapes unscathed!

Another bind up rereleased supposedly in time for the Black Widow movie. You should be fine to read this without any other tie-ins though.

War Of The Realms Omnibus by Jason Aaron

The Ten Realms have all fallen to Malekith and his army – except one. Now, at last, Midgard burns! All hell breaks loose in New York City as Malekith and his allies begin their assault – and with Thor trapped in the land of the Frost Giants, Earth’s forces are overwhelmed! What can possibly stop the diabolical Dark Elf and his army? Featuring all of Aaron’s WAR OF THE REALMS stories in one legendary hardcover – including THOR, AVENGERS and the saga of the all-seeing Daredevil, the God Without Fear!

If you’re looking for the complete War Of The Realms, definitely get this – it has all of it, with the exception of the prelude!

Marvel Monograph: Art Of Mark Brooks by John Rhett Thomas

Gaze in wonder at the art of modern masters – in the Marvel Monographs! Mark Brooks’ photo-realistic art style lends grace and power to every character he depicts. Brooks’ unmistakable work on CAPTAIN MARVEL, DEADPOOL, SECRET EMPIRE and X-MEN – not to mention his numerous other covers across the Marvel Universe – has made him a superstar! And now the Marvel Monograph series captures the magic of Mark Brooks from every angle in an artist study that will be a great keepsake for your art-book collection!

Another one for those who love art-books!

Marvel-Verse: Venom by Nel Yomtov

Venom has been one of the most vicious villains in the Marvel-Verse – and one of its most lethal protectors! Get to know the sinister symbiote with some of his most action-packed adventures! It all begins with Spider-Man’s symbiotic black costume – a killer outfit in more ways than one! And Spider-foes including the Rhino and the Shocker will find out just how dangerous it is! But after Spidey scorns and abandons the alien suit, the vengeful symbiote bonds with disgraced reporter Eddie Brock to become…Venom! Together, the two target Spider-Man for destruction – and nearly succeed! Venom eventually turns over a heroic new leaf – but how will Spidey react when his former deadliest foe swings back into town wanting to be…his friendly neighbourhood sidekick?!

Bringing together some key stories from Venom’s past – so if anyone is looking for a primer, or just wants some more Venom in their lives, pick this one up!

Iron Man 2020: Robot Revolution by Dan Slott and Christos Gage

The future is now! All is well. The Robot Rebellion has been dealt with. Humanity is perfectly safe. You may all thank Arno Stark, the Iron Man of 2020. Don’t you feel better now? Machine Man is not coming to kill you and everyone you love. 1010101111001100110000. Pay no attention to those numbers. Those were a typo. We apologize for any errors, glitches or…unforeseen problems with any of your Baintronics devices. A new software patch is coming. For everything. Including humankind! Dan Slott and Pete Woods present a story like no other, featuring an Iron Man like no other! The moment that Arno Stark has been preparing for is almost here: the end of all life as we know it! But can anyone stop his egomaniacal plan? Where is the original Iron Man?

The latest in the Iron Man event – I’d recommend reading Tony Stark: World’s Most Wanted, Iron Man (2012), Ironheart (2018) and Tony Stark: Iron Man first!

Guardians Of The Galaxy: Then It’s Us by Al Ewing

Someone has to guard the galaxy, but who will accept this bizarre new mission? Once, the Guardians of the Galaxy were a team of misfits. Now they’re a family, and they’ve earned their peace. The Guardians of the Galaxy are back, but will the entire team survive? And wait, is Rocket wearing a suit? The Lion of Olympus, a rogue Nova and the Dragon of the Moon await as Al Ewing (IMMORTAL HULK) takes the Guardians to new levels of awesome!

A brand new Guardians Of The Galaxy series to sink your teeth into!

Captain America Epic Collection: Monsters And Man by J.M Dematteis

Cap’s girlfriend, Bernie Rosenthal, makes a startling realization! The Falcon struggles to reconcile his past and future! And the 1950s Bucky must rescue a brainwashed Cap from Viper’s fangs! Plus: Four Captain Americas are united across time – but can even their combined power keep death at bay?

This isn’t the first in the Epic Collection, you’ll first want to read: Captain America Lives Again, The Coming Of… The Falcon, Bucky Reborn, Hero of Hoax?, Dawn’s Early Light.

And that’s everything coming out this week! What’s on everyone’s pull list? I’m certainly looking forward Iron Man 2020 and Guardians Of The Galaxy: Then It’s Us!
